Happy to announce the demo for my new platformer is ready! Diozen is an action platformer that is taking place on an alien jungle planet. The main character is a cat and something is happening on the planet that making the indigenous creatures go wild. It is in early development, but I've laid out the general map and locked in the camera. I have the basic movement and jump down and have some early enemy interactions. Let me know what you guys think!

I’ve started work on a new project!!
Diozen is a 2d Pixel art platformer style game. I've been having a ton of fun working on it and wanted to get some feedback. Please let me know what you think.
Still early, but things are beginning to take shape
At first I thought it was a struggle for visibility, but I live in a populated area and so i made QR Codes for my game and then went to every cafe in the area and asked if they had a community board I could post on. Worked great and gave me a way to talk to people in real life about my game. Also, if you participate in any clubs I'm sure your bound to find someone that also enjoys playing video games.
To celebrate the launch and all the support so far, I’ve put Reaper’s Adventures: Halloween Night on sale for a limited time!
If you enjoy short, atmospheric pixel art games inspired by classic 8-bit vibes, this one’s for you. It’s a compact experience, perfect for a cozy sit-down session and every bit of support helps me keep making more games like this.
If I were you I would pursue what makes you happy. As a solo game dev I understand how much time and effort goes into creating something and then wondering is all this worth it? I struggled with this same debate, do I quit my job and game dev full time because I know it’s almost impossible to build the games I want to build by doing it in my “free time” or do I keep working my 9-5 so I have stability, but sacrifice being able to work on the game or games I want to build? I think it’s probably best to slowly transition from one to the other. It’s probably not going to happen overnight unless you are putting out a masterpiece that you’ve spent the last 10 years developing 🤣 but slowly your smaller games start to do well and then it starts becoming realistic that if you saved a little and got a few more games out when you release the game you’ve always wanted to you’ll already have a following of people that love playing your games. So the to answer the question was it a mistake? Probably, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t one day going to make it as a game developer! I wish you good luck and hope you keep developing 🙂
Hey there! I would be grateful if you played my game. Let me know if this it’s something you would like to do. https://diamondpixels.itch.io/reapers-adventures
This game is about the Reaper being deceived by Lucifer and having his powers stolen from him. Lucifer escapes to Earth on Halloween night, causing creatures to roam freely and people to turn undead. The Reaper must fight his way from his crypt to Lucifer’s castle and stop him before the balance is permanently disrupted.
This project was made by me alone. I created all of the artwork, music, sound effects, coding, and story. I wanted to see if I could take a game from an idea all the way to a finished release on my own.
I have always been extremely hard on myself as a developer. For a long time I believed my first game needed to be flawless and a true masterpiece. Eventually I realized that was never the point of this project. This is my first finished game, and it represents the starting point that will allow me to build better and bigger things in the future.
After a lot of thought, I finally decided to publish it. I believe what I built is worth putting out into the world, and I am open to feedback so I can continue improving as a developer. This release is just the beginning of what I want to create.
This game is also planned as part of a series. Another entry is already in development and will be themed around a different holiday. Details are still being worked out, but it is definitely coming.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to play or leave feedback. Your support genuinely means a lot.
(Also, I'm new here I had no idea this community section existed and i had posted this as a devlog at first. my bad!)
