Thank you for seeking the dragon, and for hosting the jam so I could attempt one last(?) rm2k3 miracle LOL

Thank you for seeking the dragon.
Yeah, the loading takes a bit cuz it's trying to make sure the random hook-ups can reach the town and final boss within two transfers from the world map or town. Some maps are definitely missing each run cuz I didn't just want to like, swap single-exit maps with each other... I wanted it to be really random. I decided I was cool with this and just added a couple ways to heal throughout. I especially like it cuz it means it's really rare to get all four characters' ultimate weapons so you're more invested in drops (or if you're lucky enough, stores lol).
Glad you appreciated the crunchy flavor. Thanks again.
Enjoying where I'm at so far with this. The concept of a "poison rpg" is really, really good. Buuuut yeah it's so hard lol, I'm a bit stuck at how I'm supposed to burst down all these DireTrees without any more ways to refill Serenade. Quick Sky doesn't seem to be fast enough to do it.
I'll try again in a little bit, though. I'm curious where it goes.
Hello,
Just left a positive Steam review but wanted to bring up a concern here as well. The description mentions spears and multiple keys in the icon set. These are not included! There's not a single spear and only one golden key.
Adding at least one spear and a simple brass/iron key would be much appreciated.
Nice set otherwise, thanks!
edit: also the hp/mp debuffs are swapped
i got to the hemiangel (barely) on my first try so like peb i was able to immediately click like, "yeah i knew dark mgaic would have to be good for something!!!!"
does that fit what you wanted? unsure. maybe being genre savvy undermines the point. thankfully, i think the atmosphere (especially that tagline, "a mountaintop is like an altar"... oooooh that's so good) helps carry it. i think if anything, after years of mapping and slow-walking perverts on GamingW disillusioned me, Dalig and Sacrifice have reminded me that rm2k can produce mind-bogglingatmosphere out the wazoo even with just rtp.
anyway i beat it second try. i think this is my favorite behind dalig. (third is waldemar's ranch party currently)
some responses...
1) the effect on running is actually what really got me. i was kinda confused as to what your Point was for a bit outside of figuring out the goat eaters live in forests... then i tried to run from one with some sheep and oh no.
2) i got A rank in three tries (i died very quickly my first time cuz yeah, i thought i could Courage the sheep). i didn't use Courage once that last time, and i wasn't sure there was an S rank so i didn't exclusively dog goblin my way through
3) yeah ankle melters were iffy. i only saw them once (likely due to dog goblin proliferation) and just used Blizzard.
4) i will agree that the routing was w/e for the two western sheep, but i really liked the north-eastern sheep because it's got tons of mountains and a HUGE forest between it and the ranch. seeing the big path around the forest on my second try was what made sorta put the whole game together mentally
i like this one! while i guess i agree with your personal concerns, i think for a one-hour sketch its a fun idea executed well enough to 'get it' and enjoy. TAKE THAT
That was neat, the bosses really kept me on my toes. The ATB hack (I believe?) to make the bars fill up faster in the first half meant you really had to be quick about healing, curing states, etc., which I enjoyed.
The story didn't really do anything for me but its such a short game that I don't mind. I was okay with the slow walking speed at first because I thought it was going to be a fairly somber game, but then it wasn't so ultimately it annoyed me since I kept trying to go back and see if various things were changed by the story. (There's an air of secrecy about progression, so I misinterpreted having to do some extra stuff. That's just how I play games though!)
Overall, really impressive to put together in a few weeks. The cutscenes are quite well-directed which was fun to see. I also got a kick out of one of the spell names being very blunt.
oh and i said it on bluesky but i really really liked this one, both the atmosphere and the gameplay. realizing that the basic attack was aoe was really satisfying to play around though i also agree the game coulda had a bit more bite. after butterfly i was way more anxious about the wolves than i wound up feeling about them
i definitely agree re: silence. does sacred blood cure it? i guess i didn't try that but i was too scared lol. i think if there was some way to train the player on it maybe that'd have worked better but idk
i actually only ever found two werewolf meats, but it was fine cuz sacred blood was so good that ancient kings, while kinda scary, were always worth taking down.
if you wanted to tell some white lies in the future, you could have different versions of enemies with different drop rates, or none at all, so that like for example in the Ancient King x2 troop only one could actually drop a sacred blood
yeah i really want to get better at just putting shit out there too instead of maintaining a pristine itch page or whatever. funny timing with me doing the same think with rat world lmao
mentioend it on bluesky but i really liked the different enemies. going "oh knife haver deals less damage? pshaww" to "OH SHIT THEY'RE FAST" was great.
the vibe of just having a knife equipped in the 2k menu was really good. maybe accidental but it worked
20 coins but still struggling with breadbasket, got up to $108 this time. i think i need to make my textile city bigger, or just have two textile cities? hmmmm
i think my only suggestion for the game would be a mass reset button for trade routes. i often want to restructure everything once i build a new industry, would save some clicks
goddamn that's fast lmao. i never actually beat mythic dark lord (I did beat ketos), but i nerfed his Malice Spikes to 50% potency instead of 100% right before release so I'm glad I made the right call there to make it actually possible haha
karsu and i are trying to figure out what we want to do with it! so hopefully there will be a betterer or otherwise similar-but-greater version eventually.
i experimented with some plugins that let me adjust skill loadouts but they didn't play nicely with the intense battle ai (not like that) that i had set up for the classes. in the end i decided to make chars do what they say on the tin the most -- mages got the short end of the stick there but also eh, "balance" since they're so powerful otherwise hehe?
glad you liked karsu's writing, we need more yuri games ~
~ thank you for the kind words!
sort of my ultimate dream is making just chill grind games where people can load up and listen to a podcast or whatever during. glad i'm making more strides toward that ~
(i say sort of because the actual project i've spent the past year on is extremely unchill at its core with 65 characters and even the very rough state its in making it about 15 hours but. like. oh well. lol.)
