Gambel's Quail colored pencil painting is a bit of colorful whimsey with the Prickly Pear cactus shown in all of it's stages at once; bud, flower, and fruit. A native AZ butterfly accompanies the quail. That's the Whimsey part of course. In real life, these are are seasonal stages many weeks apart!
