Mischung aus Sympathie, Authentizität, Unermüdlichkeit und Kontinuität, die die Band ausmacht. Daher müssen sie sich nicht musikalisch neu erfinden. Trotzdem klingen sie immer frisch, aber nie gleich.
Mittlerweile folgt mit FEUER & FLAMME Album Nummer 13 und dieses Album enthält dabei alles, was Orange Sector ausmacht. Sogar noch mehr! Songwriter Martin Bodewell hat der Band 18 Demos vorgestellt. Davon wurden 15 bearbeitet und in Zusammenarbeit mit Lars Felker Texte gefunden, welche für die beiden eine große Bedeutung haben. Die Texte sind teilweise sehr düster, eindringlich und emotional. Lars Felker „Es ist in den letzten Jahren viel passiert und das wollten wir festhalten". Textlich werden Geschichten aus dem wahren Leben erzählt. Es geht unter anderen dabei um Trennungsschmerz, Gleichberechtigung, Depressionen, oder um Personen, die uns sehr enttäuscht haben. In dem Song NIEMAND verarbeitet die Band eine Tragödie in der Familie. Martin Bodewell „Der Song hilft mir die Geschehnisse zu verarbeiten. Ich freue mich, dass mir die Musik diese
Möglichkeit bietet. Der Prozess des Musikmachens bereit mir daher sehr viel Freude und eine EBM-Balade ist etwas Besonderes für uns alle. Fliehen, oder weglaufen war noch nie eine Option für mich“.
Neben NIEMAND hat auch der Song IN DEINER HAUT eine besondere Bedeutung. Lars Felker „Wir bekommen Fotos von Fans, die sich unser Bandlogo in die Haut stechen. Das ist nicht nur eine Bestätigung für uns, sondern macht uns das sehr stolz. Wir möchten uns mit diesem Song bei al denen für diese Art von Wertschätzung bedanken, die wir so tief berührt und begeistert haben". Martin „Tattoos können geliebte Menschen, oder auch geliebteBands symbolisieren. Mit solchen Fans mi Rücken, motiviert es uns weiterzumachen". Das Album hatte kein bestimmtes Konzept. Es wurde einfach drauflosgearbeitet. Es gab keinen Zeitdruck. Die Hannoveraner wollten wieder mit dem alten Team zusammenarbeiten und nichts verändern. Der Wohlfühlfaktor spielt bei Orange Sector eine große Rolle. Martin „Wir sind mit dem Ergebnis sehr zufrieden und empfinden große Begeisterung für das Projekt. Da wir Feuer & Flamme sind, passt der Albumtitel wie die Faust aufs Auge“.
Es wurde viel Wert auf die Soundauswahl gelegt. Es wurde viel an alten analogen Synthesizern geschraubt. Dabei ist es auffällig, dass das nicht nur mi Bassbereich durchgeführt wurde. Martin hat auch sehr detailliert an Drumsounds gearbeitet und diese oft selbst erzeugt. Es schöne 80er Retrosounds, minimalistische Songstrukturen und ein Moog DFAM der das Sahnehäubchen draufsetzt. Man hört das Feuer & Flamme sehr viel Spaß gemacht hat. Martin „Ich habe die Zeit im Studio verbracht, um mit Klang und Stimmung zu experimentieren. Mir war aber jederzeit
bewusst, dass das OS-Team im Vordergrund steht". Nach und nach sollen alle 15 Songs 2024 veröffentlicht werden.
After 32 successful years, Orange Sector prove that the journey is far from over. It’s this blend of sympathy, authenticity, tirelessness, and continuity that defines the band. Therefore, they don’t need to reinvent themselves musically. Yet, they always sound fresh, but never the same.
With FEUER & FLAMME, album number 13, they deliver everything that makes Orange Sector what it is—perhaps even more! Songwriter Martin Bodewell presented the band with 18 demos, of which 15 were developed in collaboration with Lars Felker, crafting lyrics that hold great significance for both of them. The lyrics are often very dark, poignant, and emotional. Lars Felker states, “A lot has happened in recent years, and we wanted to capture that.” Thematically, the songs tell stories from real life, touching on topics such as heartbreak, equality, depression, and individuals who have deeply disappointed us. In the song NIEMAND, the band processes a family tragedy. Martin Bodewell shares, “The song helps me process what has happened. I’m glad that music gives me this opportunity. The process of making music brings me a lot of joy, and an EBM ballad is something special for all of us. Escaping or running away has never been an option for me.”
In addition to NIEMAND, the song IN DEINER HAUT holds special significance. Lars Felker remarks, “We receive photos from fans who tattoo our band logo on their skin. That’s not just a confirmation for us; it makes us very proud. We want to thank everyone with this song for this kind of appreciation, which has deeply moved and inspired us.” Martin adds, “Tattoos can symbolize loved ones or beloved bands. Having fans like that behind us motivates us to keep going.” The album didn’t follow a specific concept; they simply worked on it freely, without any pressure. The Hanoverians wanted to work again with their old team and change nothing. The comfort factor plays a significant role for Orange Sector. Martin expresses, “We are very satisfied with the result and feel great enthusiasm for the project. Since we are 'feuer & flamme' (fire and flame), the album title fits perfectly.”
A lot of emphasis was placed on sound selection. They worked extensively with old analog synthesizers. Notably, this wasn’t limited to just the bass range. Martin also focused on detailed drum sounds, often creating them himself. There are beautiful 80s retro sounds, minimalist song structures, and a Moog DFAM that adds the finishing touch. You can hear that making FEUER & FLAMME was a lot of fun. Martin shares, “I spent time in the studio experimenting with sound and mood, but I was always aware that the OS team was the focus.” Gradually, all 15 songs are set to be released in 2024.
