I’m Giorgi Gvalia and this is my small corner on the internet.
There are two primary factors that have led me to build and deploy this site. For one, I’ve been inspired to a great degree by the resurgence of personal sites and movements related to it, such as the IndieWeb. I’ve ended up stumbling upon it all on Mastodon, while also discovering that there’s a larger amount of personal websites than I thought. For another, I’ve long gotten quite concerned about the sudden transformation of the Georgian webspace. The internet of my childhood, branching off far and wide, has ended up in the clutches of Facebook, all in the blink of an eye. Even today, its influence grows deeper. If someone has something to say, they have to publish it on Facebook and I don’t agree with that out of principle.
I’m not sure about what I have to say and share to the socium at large. Despite this, deploying my own platform and basing myself on it makes me feel much more free.
Technical Information About the Site
The primary technology behind this website is Hugo; the theme (HTML, CSS) I wrote myself.
