Context

This is the typo train, the current instance of meta-issue #2329. It batches typo fixes and other minor changes to the doc.

Feel free to contribute with your fixes as long as in Draft mode.

Not-so-trivial patches in this train include:

Fixing all the linkcheck errors (this involves adjusting linkcheck CI job and the related targets in docs/Makefile).
Moving the CI job linkcheck to the scheduled pipeline (to avoid accumulating other broken URLs in the future).

Closes #2876 (closed).

Manually testing the MR

Check that changes improve the doc and they are small and non-controversial.
