There is this pattern forming that I don't think the average person notices (especially those on the left).

The wealthy have infiltrated the government and corrupted it. If you look at the laws they pass, they are really the ones in control, not the voters. The laws always benefit the rich, not the common person.

They break the economy and collect as much wealth as they can. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer.

The wealthy try to distract people by telling you that society's problems are about race and gender or immigration, not about them hoarding all of the wealth.

People get desperate and demand change.

Wealthy people on the left starting proposing "socialism" as the solution. But all of their "socialist" programs result in more government control rather than empowering workers. And the wealthy control the government.

If you define socialism as a society that benefits workers, that is not what they are proposing or building, despite their promises and campaign slogans.

If you look closely, they are actually building authoritarianism with the wealthy in control. If you look beyond the propaganda and what they are actually doing, you would not vote for them unless you were an authoritarian elite. But they are banking on the fact that most people just listen to slogans and won't notice until it is too late.

This is just a tactic to get you to voluntarily give control to the wealthy in the name of socialism. If you are a real socialist who believes in the ideals of socialism, you should be appalled at it being corrupted by the wealthy like this.

There is a lot of speculation that Trump is on the Epstein list. I doubt that is true. What is more likely is that he found out that someone he knew was on the list. Or the list can be used to blackmail certain influential people, and they don't want to give up that leverage. Either way, that is not a good look.

While the politicians claim to speak for the poor and marginalized from their mansions and private jets, they rarely actually do anything to solve the problems they point out. For example, they could teach people how to run a business, or how to start a cooperative, or how to start a non-profit. Things that would give people skills to create wealth, not just transfer it from one person to another. They could provide funds to help jump start things. But, no, they would rather you hate their political opponents so they can stay in power, keeping you poor and a victim so they can keep manipulating you.

This is exactly why the left went from being dominant to losing in the United States. They haven't figured out that being hostile to people just creates enemies and turns away allies. Trans people have a right to be safe and live their lives. People deserve to be treated with respect and be paid fairly. We need better medical care in the United States. I support all of these causes. But with all of this hostility to outsiders, the left is just shooting itself in the foot and wondering why they can no longer win the race.

Is pushing people away based on guilt by association really the best way to handle transphobia?

Someone literally came to @FediForum to discuss decentralized social media and the social web in a non-hostile manner, and was perfectly fine and respectful towards the trans, gays, and lesbians attending, but they were prohibited from speaking because one of the leaders of their organization talked with someone who is accused of being transphobic? The person banned from speaking never said anything transphobic. It was purely guilt by association.

When dealing with outsiders, we have two choices. Be hostile to them or be welcoming to them.

If we are hostile to them, we just confirm that they were right about us being a threat, and we just create more people who hate us. On the other hand, if we are welcoming to them, they start to question why people are so hostile to us, and we can gain another ally.

If #trans people keep being this hostile and exclusionary to normies, we will wind up continuing to isolate ourselves until we have no social influence at all. And the less social influence we have, the more people are hostile to us.

It's like we are trying to dig ourselves out of a hole society has put is in... by digging deeper.

I understand being protective. One of the reasons I post under an alias is because I am afraid of being attacked simply for who I am. But being exclusionary and punishing people using guilt by association is a tactic that will just backfire.

Some people on Mastodon are so sensitive. If you agree with them, they attack you. Yes, AGREE with them. Fucked up, right? So from now on, I will not mention people on Mastodon unless I want them to be notified about the comment.

Some people don't understand that the world doesn't revolve around them and that not everyone is out to get them. It's sad, really. People who are supportive and who agree and amplify their message get pushed away or attacked because they can't tell the difference between friend or foe. A pretty sad existence and self-inflicted suffering.

The nice thing about Mastodon is that they don't get notified if your don't mention them. So you can say whatever you want as a reply to their comment and they probably will never see it. But everyone else will see it. I think it will save a lot of trouble by just not mentioning Mastodon users.

The weird thing about the National Popular Vote Initiative is that people don't realize that they are basically taking away their own influence unless they already live in a big state. That means that most populous states will always win the elections, and small states will never win the elections. It benefits states like California and New York and Texas, since it given them more influence over the election, and effectively mutes anyone who does not live in those states. All that you have done is shift around which states are more influential in elections and made it permanent. At least with the electoral college, the swing states change every election.

It's sad that people are so adversarial today. You can literally agree with them and they start arguing with you.

The CNBC article states that "Musk’s SpaceX town in Texas warns residents they may lose right to ‘continue using’ their property" but the situation about zoning is a bit more nuanced than that.

The warning that they may lose the right to continue to use their property in the same manner is a warning required by state law. However, if you look at the proposal, they are proposing to change things so that they have more flexibility. The change from residential or commercial zoning to mixed use would mean they have more options, not less.

And since ex post facto laws are prohibited, the existing use is grandfathered in. But it does mean that if they tore down what they have now, they would have to follow the new rules since anything new would not be grandfathered in.

Unfortunately this is something that most cities in the United States can do.

One weird thing about Mastodon is that you can comment on someone's post without them seeing it simply by not mentioning them.
