“If the M*tric System”
Metric is a bad word?
Seriously, first alarm bell sounds with an unwillingess to say ‘metric.’
“"people" had their way,”
Second alarm, the scare quotes around ‘people’?
“we'd have 10 hours in a day and 100 minutes per hour.
We'd have 100 seconds, or "centiminutes" per minute"”
So, a second would be 86% of a current second. Instead of one mississippi, it’d be one michigan.
ALL clocks would be affected and all computer timing.
They just junked leap seconds because the adjustment was too difficult to implement through the computer systems of the world, so, no big risk of this. Although it would be nice to work a 3-hour day….
“Fun fact: the Metric System was invented by the French Revolution and initially included 10-day weeks so people would forget the Lord's Day”
Strange how revolutionaries weren’t particularly interested in supporting the church that had supported their oppression, huh.
I mean, WEIRD how that works out.
“The Metric System is like the line of Cain in Genesis. Technologically useful but sucks out your soul”
No, more like the theory of evolution. SCIENCE is useful, ancient superstitions should be retired but stick-in-the-mud crazy people will not only hold to them, but force the rest of us to honor them.
