Opera opens random new tabs

I tried every adblock and pop up block I could find, but none of them worked. No matter what site I'm on, or if the browser is even open, random tabs open relatively often, a few in every 30 minutes. The tabs usually vary, although recently it's some site called "alljournal" more often than not.
Please help! This problem is seriously hindering my browsing experience.
