The original RandomFonts! BeoSans came to be when Just van Rossum applied the randomisation ideas from Beowolf to a very nice humanist sans serif, in regular and bold weights. Van Rossum also experimented with a more subtle algorithm for variation as a contrasting alternative to the geometric violence of BeoSans Hard. Together these experiments became BeoSans.
The fonts have four different degrees of randomisation, numbered from R10 to R14. BeoSans Hard randomness ranges from R20 to R24. The R10 and R20 styles do not have any randomisation applied. In the current edition, LTR BeoSans has a pretty basic characterset.
