Overcoming a bad virus: Marco van Hylckama Vlieg's AI-assisted presentation

After a respiratory virus left him speechless, Marco turned to ElevenLabs' AI to deliver his talk

Recently, Marco van Hylckama Vlieg faced a challenge ahead of a public speaking arrangement: a bad respiratory virus had damaged his voice just before he was due to deliver a presentation at Imagine AI Live. Instead of canceling, Marco turned to ElevenLabs voice AI for a solution.

Marco used our Professional Voice Cloning technology to create an AI version of his voice. After uploading an hour of his speech recordings, he hit a snag during the voice verification safety step: his current voice condition meant he couldn’t validate the samples he uploaded for training since the voices mismatched. Our moderation team worked quickly to manually validate his clone so he could proceed with his presentation.
