DeviceSupport watchOS 10.6
I am trying to run the simple demo app from xcode on my Apple Watch SE 1st gen, which has WatchOS 10.6 This turned out to be an impossible mission. I have xcode 16.1 installed, can't downgrade to 15.4 (which is the latest that supports this os) since it won't run on my OS (Sequoia), using parallels I installed Sonoma and xcode 15.4 but it won't recognize my iphone or my watch. Asking ChatGPT it seems that it is possible to use the DeviceSupport watchOS 10.6 image if I get it from someone, but loading it up "the right way" on my machine turned out to be impossible. Any recommendations / help / link to this file where I can download it?

Apple Watch can't always reconnect
Using Xcode to build and deploy the app to my watch, this is what I get: “Waiting to reconnect to Apple Watch. Previous preparation error: Transport error." And then “Connecting to Apple Watch. Xcode will continue when the operation completes.” And these messages continue to switch between each other. Sometimes the watch to connect and the application starts, but more often a scenario occurs with endless reconnection. I'm using: MacOS 14.4.1 (MacBook Pro 2019; 1.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5), Xcode 15.3, Watch OS 10.2 (Apple Watch SE 1), iOS 17.1.1 (iPhone 15 Pro). Methods I tried: Connecting Macbook, iPhone and Watch to the same WIfi network; Disabling Watch (and IPhone) from the "Devices and Simulators" menu and setting up Watch (and IPhone) from the beginning. Any help?

Unexpected Removal of Apple Watch Apps When Using allowListedAppBundleIDs in iOS Configuration Profile
Summary: When applying a configuration profile that uses allowListedAppBundleIDs to permit a defined set of apps, essential Apple Watch apps are unexpectedly removed from the paired Watch — even though their associated iPhone bundle IDs are explicitly included. This issue occurs with a minimal profile, and has been consistently reproducible on the latest versions of iOS and watchOS. Impact: This behavior severely limits the use of Apple Watch in managed environments (e.g., education, family management, accessibility contexts), where allowlisting is a key control mechanism. It also suggests either: Undocumented internal dependencies between iOS and watchOS apps, or A possible regression in how allowlists interact with Watch integration. Steps to Reproduce: Create a configuration profile with a Restrictions payload containing only the allowListedAppBundleIDs key. Allow a broad list of essential system apps, including all known Apple Watch-related bundle IDs: com.apple.NanoAlarm com.apple.NanoNowPlaying com.apple.NanoOxygenSaturation com.apple.NanoRegistry com.apple.NanoRemote com.apple.NanoSleep com.apple.NanoStopwatch com.apple.NanoWorldClock (All the bundles can be seen in the Attached profile) Install the profile on a supervised or non-supervised iPhone paired with an Apple Watch. Restart both devices. Observe that several core Watch apps (e.g. Heart Rate, Activity, Workout) are missing from the Watch. Expected Behavior: All apps explicitly included in the allowlist should function normally. System apps — especially those tied to hardware like Apple Watch — should remain accessible unless explicitly excluded. Actual Behavior: Multiple Apple Watch system apps are removed or hidden, despite their iPhone bundle IDs being listed in the allowlist. Test Environment: iPhone running iOS 18 Apple Watch running watchOS 11 Profile includes only the allowListedAppBundleIDs key Issue confirmed on fresh devices with no third-party apps Request for Apple Engineering: Please confirm whether additional internal or undocumented bundle IDs are required to preserve Apple Watch functionality when allowlisting apps. If this behavior is unintended, please treat this as a regression or bug affecting key system components. If intentional, please provide formal documentation listing all required bundle IDs for preserving Watch support with allowlisting enabled. Attachment: .mobileconfig profile demonstrating the issue (clean, minimal, reproducible) Attached test profile = https://drive.google.com/file/d/12YknGWuo1bDG-bmzPi0T41H6uHrhDmdR/view?usp=sharing

WCSessionDelegate not being called in the Apple Wallet Extension With UI
Hi, we are implementing the push provisioning via the Apple Wallet Extension starting from the example at https://developer.apple.com/documentation/passkit/implementing-wallet-extensions. To correctly manage the push provisioning on Apple Watch, specifically for a card tokenised in the iPhone but not in the Watch, we need to know if there is a connected Apple Watch to the iPhone. We are using the following code from the Apple Wallet Extension example to detect whether there is a connected watch: WCSession* session = [WCSession defaultSession]; session.delegate = delegate; [session activateSession]; In the main target of the app, at the end of the activation the system correctly calls the delegate method: session:activationDidCompleteWithState:error: but we noticed it is not being called in the UI extension context (the one having NSExtensionPointIdentifier: com.apple.PassKit.issuer-provisioning.authorization). We don't understand why the delegate is not being called in the UI extension, can you please help? Thanks! Steps to Reproduce: Start with a card not added in the Apple Wallet app Open the Apple Wallet app Click on add card Select the app to launch the Wallet Extension flow The Apple Wallet Extension with UI is on screen and invokes the activateSession method, the delegate method is not invoked and session.isPaired returns "no". Issue with opening browser on Apple Watch SE 2 – black screen
Hello, I am experiencing an issue when trying to open the browser on my Apple Watch SE 2 running the latest version, watchOS 11.6. When I attempt to visit any website, the browser opens and displays the URL at the top as if it is loading, but the screen remains black and no content is displayed. The internet connection is available, and all other apps on the watch work normally. This issue occurs only with the browser. I would appreciate any guidance or solution to resolve this problem. Thank you for your assistance.

Request: Higher-Frequency IMU Access on Apple Watch for Sports Performance Apps
Hi everyone, I’m building a sports performance app for Apple Watch that uses the onboard IMU to analyze swings and impacts in sports like tennis and golf. The goal is to estimate club/racket head speed, ball speed, and shot quality in real time from wrist motion data. With Core Motion, I can currently get deviceMotion updates at ~100 Hz. While this is fine for general movement tracking, the actual ball impact happens much faster — 5–10 ms in tennis and ~0.5 ms in golf. Many of the high-frequency vibration/impact components are missed at 100 Hz, making it hard to directly measure or more accurately estimate certain performance metrics. Questions for Apple / community: 1. Is there a way to access raw accelerometer and gyroscope data at higher sampling rates (e.g., 500–1000 Hz) on Apple Watch? 2. If not, is this due to hardware limitations or an API/software constraint? 3. Are there any research, partner, or beta programs that allow deeper sensor access for sports-science use cases? Even modest increases in IMU sampling could unlock more accurate ball-speed estimates, impact force analysis, and strike-quality detection without needing external sensors — making Apple Watch a best-in-class wearable for precision sports analytics. Happy to share more about the current approach, sample data, and potential use cases if helpful. Thanks, Max

Configurable Watch Widgets "Unable to Load" watchOS 26 Issue
I updated my IntentWidgetProvider recommendations() to return an empty array instead of all my previous static IntentRecommendation to allow my widgets to finally be configurable. When I go to the watch widget chooser I see samples of my widgets OK: But when I touch the sample would should bring up my configurations, I get "Unable to Load": Anybody see this or have any ideas? Thanks.

EKEventStore on Apple Watch not showing all calendars
EKEventStore on Apple Watch is not giving me all calendars. I can see only calendars of the source 'Subscriptions', but non of the calendars of source CalDAV (iCloud). This problem exists over multiple apps. Code works fine on iPhone. Any ideas? Minimal example code: import SwiftUI import EventKit struct ContentView: View { let eventStore = EKEventStore() @State var success: Bool = false @State var calendarNames: [String] = [String]() func request() async { success = (try? await eventStore.requestFullAccessToEvents()) ?? false } func list() { calendarNames = eventStore.calendars(for: .event).map { $0.title } } var body: some View { VStack { Image(systemName: "globe") .imageScale(.large) .foregroundStyle(.tint) Text("Access: \(success.description)") ScrollView { ForEach(calendarNames, id: \.self) { name in Text(name) } } } .onAppear { Task { await request() list() } } .padding() } }

Apple Watch may need to be unlocked to recover from previously reported preparation errors
I'm trying to run(debug) an Xcode watch app project on my watch. My phone is connected to my computer via USB cable, my watch is paired to my phone. When I open Xcode and then open "Devices and simulators", I can see my phone properly connected. But these errors show up for my watch........ Apple Watch may need to be unlocked to recover from previously reported preparation errors Ensure the device is unlocked and associated with the same local area network as this Mac. A connection to this device could not be established. Timed out while attempting to establish tunnel using negotiated network parameters. I have booted computer, phone and watch. I have turned wifi off and on, on all 3 devices. I have turned developer mode on the watch off and then back on again. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Workout Buddy not available
Has anyone seen the workout buddy options on watch OS yet? I am not able to get it on my watch. My setup is an iPhone 16 and Watch Ultra 1 with the 26 OS I am currently using beta 3. English US language on both and US as region. I am located in Germany though. I restarted both devices multiple times without any changes. Hopefully someone can help.

Apple Watch Logs and Debugging
Developing a standalone app for the Apple Watch. Unless I turn off Bluetooth on the paired iPhone, the Apple Watch’s Wi-Fi deactivates every ~30 seconds, which causes the connection to Xcode to drop. How is this supposed to work? I can see my app’s logs in Xcode, but I can’t view any other system logs from the Apple Watch. I tried using the Console app, with the iPhone connected via USB, trusted, etc, but I don't see any system logs. How can I access full system logs? Thanks!

Caution: watchOS 26 Beta 2 (may) brick Hermes variants
Exercise caution applying Beta 2 on a Hermes Apple Watch. A number of anecdotes (including my own) that this causes very rapid battery drain, i.e. minutes, followed by a cycle of lower power mode, and very slow charge as battery drain seems as fast as charge so it tops out in low single digit %. Any interaction seems to cause the cycle to recur, rendering the watch in effect unusable. The connection to the phone is also broken, with the Watch app crashing after 1–2 seconds, 100% repeatably. This post is to caution avoidance, but a fix is going to be problematic if the watch can't get anywhere near 50% charge. The "anecdata" that this is widespread specifically with Hermes watches is: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/watchos-26-beta-thread.2458443/page-5?post=33976625#post-33976625 And: https://www.reddit.com/r/watchOSBeta/comments/1lipud8/comment/mzh6ekt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button Emailed through developer.apple.com with case ID 102630146259. Apple Watch Data to Server
I was wondering which is the preferred way to send a lot of data from sensors of the apple watch to server. It is preferred to send small chucks to iphone and then to server or directly send bulk data to server from watch. How does it affect battery and resources from watch ? Are there any triggers that I can use to ensure best data stream. I need to send at least once a day. Can I do it in background or do I need the user to have my app in the foreground ? Thank you in advance

Real-Time WatchConnectivity Sync Not Working Between iPhone and Apple Watch
Hi everyone, I'm building a health-focused iOS and watchOS app that uses WatchConnectivity to sync real-time heart rate and core body temperature data from iPhone to Apple Watch. While the HealthKit integration works correctly on the iPhone side, I'm facing persistent issues with WatchConnectivity — the data either doesn't arrive on the Watch, or session(_:didReceiveMessage:) never gets triggered. Here's the setup: On iPhone: Using WCSession.default.sendMessage(_:replyHandler:errorHandler:) to send real-time values every few seconds. On Apple Watch: Implemented WCSessionDelegate, and session(_:didReceiveMessage:) is supposed to update the UI. Both apps have WCSession.isSupported() checks, activate the session, and assign delegates correctly. The session state shows isPaired = true and isWatchAppInstalled = true. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are on, both devices are unlocked and nearby. Despite all this, the Watch never receives messages in real-time. Sometimes, data comes through in bulk much later or not at all. I've double-checked Info.plist configurations and made sure background modes include "Uses Bluetooth LE accessories" and "Background fetch" where appropriate. I would really appreciate guidance on: Best practices for reliable, low-latency message delivery with WatchConnectivity. Debugging steps or sample code to validate message transmission and reception. Any pitfalls related to UI updates from the delegate method. Happy to share further details. Thanks in advance!

Stands not detected
I have FB12696743 open since July 21, 2023 and this happened again today. I get home at approx 10 mins after the hour, walk appox 50 ft across my yard, up 5 steps into my house, let the dog out and pace on my deck watching the dog, go back in the house walk around the kitchen while preparing dinner. A total of about 200 ft. I sit down about 35 past the hour and start to eat and at 10 mins to the next our and I get the reminder to stand. On the other side I wake up at 5 mins to hour. Walk 8 steps to the bathroom and successfully achieve the stand for that hour. WHY!?!?!? 😁🤣

Fall Detection event sequencing
The sequence of events when Fall Detection is triggered is not clear from the documentation. https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/763738 This post assumes that when a fall is detected by the watch, the standard UI ("It looks like you've taken a hard fall...") is shown, and only after this is resolved (user taps an option or times out) is an event sent to the CMFallDetectionDelegate in our app - is that correct? Is it possible instead to have our delegate be notified of a fall event immediately, and let our app's UI present options for next steps to the user?

Do watchOS apps support IP request communication within a local area network?
As a third-party application on Apple Watch, can it be located in the same LAN httpServer? Currently, when testing to initiate an http request in the LAN, the connection timeout is returned, code: -1001 self.customSession.request("http://10.15.48.191:9000/hello").response { response in switch response.result { case .success(let data): dlog("✅ 请求成功,收到数据:") if let html = String(data: data ?? I would like to know the distribution of watchOS by OS version.
I would like to know the distribution of watchOS by OS version. Further research shows iOS version distribution, but there appears to be no mention of Watch OS. I am currently developing an App and would like to decide which version of Watch OS to start supporting due to cost issues, and would like to use the market distribution to determine this. Please help others or experts who want to do something like me! Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
