Concrete pulses, acid bleeds, and cryptic signals in the static—Circuit Riders is a call to the floor, driven by classic circuitry and wired with intent.
Berlin-based producer SGT steps forward with his debut EP and the sixth release from Delphic Iris Records: a stripped-back, sinister slab of electro. Originally from central Chile, SGT came up through a raw underground punk scene. His early isolation from dance music pushed him outward—into Santiago’s DIY electronic community and eventually to Berlin, where he DJs and works behind the scenes at the legendary Tresor.
SGT has fine-tuned his sound on one of the most revered systems in the world. That influence is baked into this record: raw, refined, and built for impact—laced with rubbery sequential funk and precise sound design.
That path has shaped a sound both raw and refined, informed by world-class systems and steeped in hands-on synthesis. The EP draws heavily from SGT’s hardware setup: mono synths like the SH-101 and Sequential Pro-One, triggered by the TR-808’s sequencer, with devastating impact. It’s body music—rubbery funk, razor-sharp beats, and stripped-down power, riding the VCO. No filler, just function.
Each cut hits with punch and clarity, drawing on Detroit electro’s DNA and punk’s hard-edged attitude:
Addicted Generation kicks things off with pure classic electro heat: boomy 808s, vocoded dystopian pads, and tight sequence-funk channeling Anthony Rother’s Redlight District era.
From Afar is the brightest track on the EP—hooky, funk-driven alien waves spiraling through deep space, with nods to Cybotron and Aux 88.
Body Control walks a darker edge: ominous arps whirl beneath menacing drums, refracting Planet Rock through a shadowed, modern lens.
Wizards splits the difference between EBM, techno, and electro—channeling Dynarec-style sequences and granular pads into something cold, haunted, and hybrid.
Hoags Object Field Recording (vinyl-only) closes the record with static-drenched textures and ghost frequencies—like decoding a lost alien broadcast.
This is future-focused electro, rooted in punk methodology.
Just machines, movement, and forward pressure.
