[After shoveling the driveway for hours] Snow should be illegal [remembers I'm against the carceral state] We should restructure society so that snow doesn't happen [remembers we are actually doing that and it's very bad and also why this snowfall was so bad] Uh-oh
Just spent most of my day digging my car out of the snow 👍 back hurt 👍
do you remember the first shiny pokemon you ACTIVELY HUNTED?
Yes (tell me)
I think? (tell me anyway)
No
I've never actively hunted for a shiny pokemon
I've never played pokemon
the ship of theseus wikipedia article in 2003. 20 years later, after 1792 total edits, 0% of its original phrasing remains. (x)
And yet it's still the same article, the article designated to be about theseus' ship. Debate solved i guess
easy as fuck . were they stupid?
Guys, she called me her friend :D
Now I want to transport as many neurons away from five pebbles and into the moon as possible

Sorry for editing the post, I just improved the drawing a little and I didn’t want to post twice
Here’s the first picture compared to the fixed version

Did I interrupt something….?
Birthday in a week, huh? Well, early congratulations are in order then! (in proper time they should be delivered as well) Now, it leads me to think... do Iterators celebrate or even have birthdays? Some sort of activation day perhaps or then their, for the lack of better word, AI achieves self consciousness? (depending on how Iterators, their guiding intelligence and personality is made perhaps?)
This is all pure headcanon, but: I personally think that due to their size and complexity, iterators don’t exactly “wake up” one day, I think it’s more of a gradual process as their different components are being constructed and brought online. I imagine that the construction of an iterator is a very long process, taking years or even decades. Because of this I don’t think they have “birthdays” so much as “birth years”; I’m not sure where the line is drawn for them to be considered “fully conscious”.
In some of her dialogue Moon describes a process of “priming”, I think iterators are fed information gradually as they are slowly brought online, and I think the puppet is one of the last components to be installed. So whether their true “activation day” is the day their puppet is installed, or the day their priming is complete, or maybe the day they are unveiled to the public, is unclear. It probably takes a while for an iterator to learn to use their puppet to communicate; I doubt they are fluent in using it right away.
Given the social importance placed on an iterator’s puppet, I think the day their puppet is installed would be the closest thing to a “birthday”, even if they were technically fully conscious for long before that. It’s more of a symbolic gesture than anything else, to “humanize” them to the general public. I’m not sure if the iterator themself would care about it very much, I guess it depends on which one you ask.
Very interesting and, truth be told, I forgot about Moon's dialogue and though it (the "priming") was from a fanfic (the fic is kinda fucked up, but it aint bad).
Also I do agree about puppet installation and it being the closest that can be considered a "birthday", especially in social and cultural aspect of things
Oh yeah, Moon mentions “priming” in the Teal Filtration System pearl (from vanilla):
She doesn’t mention what it entails, but I assume it’s a process of education that Iterators go through as they are slowly being brought online.
Seems like it. Perhaps feeding the information and knowledge to the "net" until/prior it becomes self realized person (a much as Iterator, on technical terms, can be called and acknowledged as such). Lots of space for headcanon tho, which is good in my book
And speaking of headcanons in and topic at hand, I was wondering: That day/season can be considered TSAC's "birthday"? (if we take the installation of the puppet as a mark or you have something different/specific for them?)
The earliest notes I have written down about TSAC are from January 28th of this year, and I posted about them a day later, so I guess that’s their “birthday” in calendar terms.
In terms of in-game canon, TSAC’s creation date isn’t super concrete, but I know they were created after Moon and before Pebbles. They were made during a period of iterator design in response to the issues very early iterators like Moon had with supporting a city. In my mind this second wave of iterators had much more experimental and unorthodox designs, and were specifically built to be capable of supporting an entire city. (I guess that makes TSAC a Gen 2 iterator by some people’s definitions. I don’t subscribe to the “generation” idea myself but I can understand the appeal in terms of delineating differences in iterator design philosophy)
I imagine TSAC’s construction was fairly standard, though the process probably took longer due to their location in the mountains. Their priming process was also pretty standard. We don’t know anything about Rain World’s calendar system so I can’t give a specific date, but I think TSAC began construction some time after Moon’s citizens had migrated from the surface to the top of her can and Moon (and other early Iterators in similar situations) began to experience issues. The dangerous effects iterators could have on the local climate were well known at that point, so TSAC’s architects designed them with their city in mind. I’m not sure how long the process took, maybe a hundred years or so? Give or take.
I’d like to think that they were completed in the winter.
TSAC turns 2 today!!
