Who knows what Apple removing optional enhanced data protection means for the data I. iCloud that is historically enhanced with no option to disable it such as your health data or passwords. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I’ve gone back to 1Password so I’ll be making sure my Apple Password store is empty this weekend 👨‍💻

Ikea upgrade was deployed today. You can never have a big enough pegboard 🔨

I still have lots of hooks and bits I can deploy. Just need to think of what to do with them🤔. Happy to have more space to work with though!

When companies that make things like Keyboards send mailing list ads on a frequency that is like every 4 days I always wonder, do they think I buy like 100 keyboards a year? Chill it out!

🍕Pizza mailing list? ✔️
You can never send too many ❤️😋

⌨️ Keyboard mailing list? 🙅‍♂️
Yo, like 2 a year is fine or if you have a big launch/sale that’d be ok as well.

That’s it. Instagram/Threads content downloaded and account deleted.

Happy to focus on making my own content for my own site and interacting with the lovely people and posts I see on micro.blog and mastodon… 👋😊

I have updated my Gear & Apps page to now indicate my apps used through 2024 into 2025 as well as made some minor gear changes due to upgrades and tweaks. 👨‍💻

I’m changing my domain from .fyi to .uk. so things might get a bit weird with my posting/cross posting for a while… Hopefully stuff continues to work 🤞

Whelp… intentionally or accidentally my blog domain is apparently now classified as a “premium” domain by the domain registry and it may cost significantly more to renew it in Jan… 😕

My domain registrar (Who is amazing btw) is investigating. Still… nice bit of stress over Christmas 🥲🎄

Project Tapestry

I was surprised to see in the latest Project Tapestry backer update state the app is nearly done.

The feedback from TestFlight users has been extremely helpful in getting Tapestry ready for the App Store. If there’s a part of the app that you think needs work, please let us know via TestFlight.

I haven’t actually bothered submitting any feedback because the test flight has always (and still) says this.

At this early state of development, we’re not actively looking for too much feedback about the state of the app - we know there are still a lot of rough edges! If you want to help, make notes of things you notice that aren’t working right, or things you think could be better and keep an eye out for improvements to them as we release more builds. When we’re further along, we’ll ask testers to submit feedback and report active bugs more earnestly.

Ah well 🤷‍♂️ Too late now. Bit annoyed I feel like I’ve missed my chance to have my say during development some what though.

I’m going to spend some time re-engaging with Tapestry this week, with a clean start to the feeds I put into it and re-kick the tires on it so to say.

I’m using (new) Reeder as my primary feed reader at the moment. I know that app has been marmite to a lot of people, but I really like that apps clean design and how it deals with organisational aspects like folders and grouping.

Things in tapestry for organisation always seem to take one click or one page of options too much in that regard at the moment.

I’m exited to see this breed of app take flight from different developers and to see how this area now grows.

Exiting times!

Keychron K2 HE - Initial Thoughts

After backing the kickstarter in August, it’s finally here! My K2 HE Keyboard from Keychron.

I got the special edition 1 ISO model 2 and added on one of the fancy coiled aviator cables as well. In total I paid $178. This translates to £141.

If I bought it without backing the kickstarter today from keychron directly, it would cost me £137.00 for the keyboard, and £34.00 for the cable. A total of £171.00, which means I saved £34 by backing the Kickstarter, or essentially I got my snazzy cable for free. Not too bad.

For those of you here who backed project tapestry like me, I’m curious to hear what people think of the experience now we’re months in.

Are you using it regularly? What feeds do you have setup?

I just prepped and cooked our family dinner whilst watching Gangs of London on my VR Headset. Never done that before. It was pretty cool.

The future is now old man 🤓

I guess I have conflicted feelings about the “starter packs” that are cropping up on the fediverse services now. I They’re a great way of getting a start on specific topics and communities. I also think they could encourage cliques around topics & popularity contests…

I wonder why some apps block their iOS/iPadOS apps from running on MacOS. I understand it might have some rough edges, but let me choose. I just wanted to use shareshot on MacOS but they block it… I can work around it but… 🤷‍♂️
