OMG they let me in........

OMG they let me in........I made it to Queensland finally with no Covid disruptions.........

The morning started early and after a hair-raising trip to the neighbours to pick up my partner in all things quilty we were on our way......... Had to wash the car on the way as it was covered in mud.......

( Those tracks in the mud are at least a foot deep)

8.5hrs later we were walking into the first quilt shop..........

Sale box of bolts.....

the one on the front right may have become a backing for my French General quilt I made with the big blocks/arrow..........

Dinner last night at a Turkish restaurant..... First time for me...... Very nice but ate way too much......

May have had to buy some of the middle fabric on display in the front window at Quilt Craft.......

crap pulled out everywhere in the motel room...... Convinced Maree to get papers for Lucy....... Leant her one of my Lucy templates.....

show and tell......

All three patchwork shops conquered.......The Sewing Room, Quilt Craft and Precious Time......numerous times......

The gorgeous quilt above is Patrinas at Precious Time...... Emma Jean Jansen design.......

I may have had to buy the pattern for Chapel Street.....Anyone made it?......EPP or machine peiced?

OMG the bank account is dying but we've had so much fun, inspiration and I've got 4 quilt backings too on my loot for specific quilts..........

About to get ready for Italian tonight with some friends........

At this rate I might need a holiday to get over the this holiday/retreat....

My Little Red Hen......

Today we farewell a special friend...........my Little Red Hen aka Jan...........

We were friends online soooooo many years.....

fortunately we have been able to meet up quite a few times........

She and her Rooster came and stayed once at home....maybe 2015?

Can't find any pics from that trip...........

This was taken when she passed thru town and we met at Kylies art exhibition..........

2017 or 2018 I just can't find the post right now.......

Pop.....

To the mystery fairy....... Thankyou......

Survived another big week not quite as huge as the last one but not much less. Patches of when I would consider drinking all this at once...... But also that I made it thru the week.....

Slowly kicking goals but good to kick some.....Canned my weekend plans because and it was going to rain lots and so far we've had 2mls. Roads get too muddy for visitors to my place at times..... It's to late to redo tomorrow's plans now....... So whoever you are thankyou mystery person as I at least know you read here...... I'll stick one in the fridge and pop it zoom sewing with blogland on Sunday morning......

Can't see any border changes coming any time soon.......

Covid 19 is now affecting the agriculture industry.......

Zoom Virtual Chookshed Party

As requested by the girls here is a list of everyone who popped in..........Hope all the links are correct.........Let me know if not....

I've had the best time. It would have been no fun if you didn't join in with me so thank you to all of you for joining in.........Some longer then others but that does not matter.......I was on from 7am until 10pm with a few quick trips out to feed the lamb.....

Award for the earliest starter goes to Sylvia as she got up and joined us 4am her time.

Last starter Chris who came in after the family had gone. But it sure made for a nice excuse to go back in this morning and hang out with you and the other girls......

It was an interesting challenge working around the time zones but thank you to everyone I really really do appreciate it.........I got lots done compared to some sewing days..........so inspired by all the different things everyone is working on.

Goodluck with the Choc Chip Biscuits recipe that I shared.

Thanks to the girls who had cake and a candle...........Corona Virus sure has changed parts of our lives and it was interesting discussing the different "rules" people are living with around the world..........the virus had made us all try new things and I am not sure why we had not thought of this previously and tried this truly virtual sewing day.........BUT I sure will be doing another one so be brave and join us next time we had a lot of fun and it's just like sitting around a table sewing with friends........ok well not quite as good but pretty close second.......

more party prep......

OK so party plans are progressing............I've got to go dig out some sewing........thinking I will just be hand sewing Saturday........I think I will be inside too not in the chookshed unless I move out there for a bit...........I'll see........need to test some things out but the heating is only good during the day not when it's chilly of a morning and night..........

Blog fix......

Its ok I am alive.........other then I quick thanks at christmas my last post was early December...........I did say life was a struggle............its only now looking back I realise how bad it was then......at the time I posted last I was on leave.......it had been pre-planned as I was getting exhausted but as it turns out I never went back.......just before that leave started I quit that job and thankfully was offered another one all at the same time.......so much happier at work.....while still the same sort of work as in admin area its a completely different field of work......completely different clientele.....while I loved the job I did it was not a good workplace for my mental health........

it resulted in days of doing nothing on my leave from mental and physical exhaustion....guilt of quitting a good job as I worked very well with my boss..........a day almost completely in tears and my rock bottom then slowly coming back from that.........

But I am enjoying the challenge of learning my new job, there is more travel involved so adjusting to that but its helping me to learn the job also......

I'm sure your sick of hearing about the drought but it still goes on and as my friend in the US who shall remaining nameless but thankfully persists on emailing me (which I am very grateful for) said we are with you........so next post will be another farm post........one day I will get back to sewing but for now there is no time.............

recently i've had some issues which I think are from physical fatigue........drought if you have livestock like we do is daily or in our case twice daily feeding.......I have been bucketing feed to weaners since June/July...........we are into our third year of feeding stock.......for those not in Australia there is a massive area in drought of some form.........

this is just NSW the state I live in but others states especially Queensland have big issues also.............I'm in the dark brown area which is the worst but currently 100% of NSW is in drought of some sort.....(I don't entirely agree with the how the data reflects on this map but I am currently working with the DPI to try and make this more ground truthed).....some towns especially out west are running out of water.......we are very lucky with water supply at present.......

Its a matter of keeping an eye on your little community and they on you.....thankfully we don't all have a really bad day at the same time but we keep each other going......

But today I was away for work and got to catch up at an early breakfast with some of my blog buddies.......who don't blog any more........We took this pic especially for Diddles another blog buddy.........

Ali is safe as she is just a lurker but Kate and Suze are a million times worse then me but hey its how I met them and Ali and they are great friends........so good to have a blog buddies fix.........I need to get with the tribe and the magic of that gathering..........its ok scrub stitching is coming soon............

I apologize for not responding to some emails...........yes not my usual old style but i'm tired and not on my laptop as much where its easier to write replies.......

also struggle to think what to write back.........I will get past this....

Art and ikea.........

Recently we went up to the Commonwealth Games...........more on that soon...........the first day I didn't have a ticket for the event Mr Chooky and Fairy Girl went too so I found a way to fill in my time............

I had seen Michelle's post about her groups art exhibition.............I was so excited when I worked out it would still be on later in the month when I was up there.........so I emailed Michelle and even better she was on volunteer duty that day...........So exciting to see the exhibition it is one of the kinds of art I like........

and it was great to see Michelle........here she is with her lion.........

loved the birds she had in too but I missed get a pic of them........

i have followed her art journey for awhile now.........she even has a blog just for her art now........Nature of Art......check it out...........

Another morning we had a few hours to spare and Ikea was close by......having never been there my friends I was staying with said well lets all go..........so we did.........I'm dreaming of the chairs above.............but they don't do delivery to my place.......not even anywhere close (as in a few hrs)...........Might have to go back and get them..........but its a very LONG trip...........

And for years I have seen these tray trolleys and finally I have my own now....I got the dark blue...........even managed to put my first piece of Ikea furniture together.........

Adventure continues.............

So when I landed I was whisked away from the airport to Miss Fiona's@ Bubz Rugz.............

She is just fabulous and we had a great time together..........

I enjoyed some great long walks in her area and found some lovely things to photograph along the way............

the plant above looked like 3 plants next to each other and thick and only short..........but great colours and look in the garden...........

gorgeous frangipanis flowering everywhere.......different colours too..............I stole a few from ~~Fiona's garden~~ actually Mr Bubz Rugz garden...........

Spider lily? very delicate and pretty none the less..............

Even found some old cattle yards in my walk........old timber joins...........they don't make them like this any more............
I ended up walking 6kms around the suburbs...........felt a bit too flash walking on paths even............

After all that walking I relaxed with some hand stitching and then moved onto my Churn Dash quilt..............I stole Fiona's design wall............

thanks for the loan of a machine Fiona............I had all but one seam left to join when I went out for the evening............

Yep I gate crashed Friday night stitching..............

Kris @ Tag-along Teddies was there so great to catch up with her also...........I did some hand stitching and also pinned the last seam on the quilt.............

Straight after sewing I came home to Fiona's and joined the final seam and my churn dash is now finished..............OMG it is bigger then I thought............this is a queen bed I laid it out on.........I only added an extra row to one side and the bottom........

Oh well as I say bigger is better..........

Found these gorgeous gluten free cup cakes on a fete stall that I worked on while away too..............OMG they were amazing............

I wished I had pics of the others there........it was so pretty..........

After all that fun I had to pack up and leave the beautiful green Toowoomba and head home to a dry brown farm.............
