Captain's Library / CoronaVirus Comics STAR TREK SPECIAL "Flesh and Stone" Part 1

What threat could require the efforts of doctors from every Star Trek series (pre-CBS All-Access)?
Buckle up, space cadets!
You're about to find out...
Dr McCoy here looks as he did in "Encounter at Farpoint", the premiere episode of Star Trek the Next Generation...
...in a scene with Dr Crusher's friend and shipmate, Data!
There (AFAWK), are three other doctors who served as Chief Medical Officer of the Enterprise NCC-1701 (chronologically)...
  • Dr Sarah April: medical officer and wife of the ship's first commander, Captain Robert April in "Counter-Clock Incident"
  • Dr Philip Boyce: Captain Christopher Pike's medical officer in "The Cage/The Menagerie"
  • Dr Mark Piper: Captain Kirk's first medical officer in "Where No Man Has Gone Before"
...but all would've been deceased as of the timeframe of this story.
Dr. Pulaski, though referred to as medical officer of the USS Repulse, was Dr Crusher's replacement on the Enterprise during STtNG's second season.
Crusher returned in the third season.
The conclusion to this story, including flashback to McCoy's encounter with the disease during the time of the original series can be seen tomorrow at...

CoronaVirus Captain's Library STAR WARS "Touch of the Goddess" Conclusion

...well, we haven't seen this...yet!
Luke, Lando, Han, and Chewbacca seek to return two stolen statues of "The Dancing Goddess" and "The Minstrel" to give the terminally-ill population of Godo comfort in their last days.
Han deduces the missing statues are part of a gigantic part-organic machine disguised as a temple which, when functioning, suppressed the epidemic!
While Han and Luke head to recover The Minstrel, Lando and Chewbacca seek out The Dancing Lady, currently in the possession of Drebble, a rival...scoundrel...

If only Covid-19 could be dealt with so easily...

CoronaVirus Captain's Library STAR WARS "Touch of the Goddess" Part 1

Thought we couldn't find a Star Wars story involving disease or sickness...
... to include in our #coronavirus comics series and celebrate #maythefourthbewithyou ?
Then you must not know us as well as you think!
While this is part of a post-Return of the Jedi story arc, the previous events are of little consequence to understanding this particular tale.
All you need to know is provided by some convenient expositional dialogue...
Will out intrepid Star Warriors succeed?
Perhaps the cover will clue you in!
Written by Jo Duffy, penciled by Ron Frenz and inked by Sam DeLaRosa, Marvel's Star Wars #99 (1985) was part of a longer story arc.
As of this date, the entire original Marvel run is considered non-canon...or an alternate universe where elements of major events occurred...but many relatively-minor events didn't!

CoronaVirus Captain's Library CRACKED "O'Meagre Man"

Much like Blacula, The Omega Man is one of the few 1950s-1970s genre films...
...that didn't have a "straight" comics adaptation!
For those who don't "get" the dated punchline, the final reveal shows the leader to be the primary character of the politically-incorrect 1970s TV series All in the Family.
Illustrated by John Severin (with an assist on likenesses by his sister, master caricaturist Marie Severin), this story from Major Publications' Cracked #100 (1972) is the only adaptation and only spoof of the movie, which itself is the second movie adaptation of Richard Matheson's novelette I Am Legend!
(The first was 1964's Last Man on Earth, starring Vincent Price!)
All three versions specify that a virus kills most of the human population and mutates almost all the survivors into creatures (ghouls/vampires/zombies depending on which version you're watching)!
Note: two of the three cinema versions specify that the disease is man-made!
(Thr original novella indicates it's a natural mutation of rabies and carried by animals!
In the Will Smith movie, it's called the "Krippen Virus" and was intended to destroy cancer cells.
In the Charlton Heston flick, it's nameless biological weapons used by Red China and the USSR in a border conflict which gets out of control!
In the Vincent Price movie, the plague's cause is unspecified.
