I’ve watched MCU films that were fun, that I didn’t dislike watching but never I don’t think have I ever come away from an MCU project thinking that it doesn’t just accurately adapt the source material, it elevates it to a higher level, aside from Black Panther and like that’s the highest compliment I can give. It adapted Simon and then it elevated Simon to tell the best story it could. I have quibbles with the pacing a bit and obviously the fact that Simon’s usual relationship dynamics couldn’t be there is sad for me but other than those (which are largely outside of the creatives control) I am genuinely overjoyed.
