Unusual looking plane, but cool pieces!

    Written by (Parent) in Canada,

This set is a nice blend of simple and cool pieces. My 4 year old got this and 7239 and 8402 for his birthday and has played with them all constantly. Looking forward to getting more City Lego soon.

A lot of parts and great models

    Written by (AFOL) in Canada,

Having only built 1 of the 8 models I can say that this set is great. My 5 year old son and I spent a chunk of our afternoon catching up on all his new LEGO and this was a great package.

    Pros

    • a lot of parts, didn't think 240 was that many
    • brickmaster type models
    • well laid out instructions with very distinct color visibility
    • 8 possible models shown, 4 for each of the 2"sides"
    • 6 of the models allow use of the figures as pilots

    Cons

    • packaging is overly large
    • there isn't really a story, just a bunch of information about star wars vehicles
    • a trade federation droid is not a minifigure
    • 2 models are "mini" designs that don't allow minifigure use to pilot

I think that this is a great set and the concept is sound, but the book is rather large and I am not sure how to store it with the rest of the LEGO collection. I think my biggest beef is that I thought there was a story to it as well, but the characters randomly interact based on the models and where they are used. there is no plot or driving force behind their interactions.

The information in the book could be used as part of a star wars encyclopedia.

If I had seen this set at a store when it first came out and saw a price of $32 CAD I would have put it back on the shelf. But I found this at a discount store for $20 CAD and decided that it would be a pretty good buy at that price, I was right. Even on auction/used sites this set is still going at a price of $25 to $30 dollars which is more than it ever should be bought for.

If you see this for $20 or less, buy it, that price point makes it a good deal.

Great Idea, Good Pieces, Great Book, Fun Camera

    Written by (AFOL) in Canada,

I bought this at a bargin warehouse, the kind of place where you dont expect a LEGO box to have all its pieces. I got a real deal for this set.

    Pros

    • Camera
    • Well written book for kids to learn about movie making.
    • Software for kids to make movies
    • 442 Pieces
    • 7 Minifigs
    • Base plates
    • Dino figure

    Cons

    • Ages 8-14
    • Complicated build

I found this set to be better for the camera and software more that the pieces it has, but there is still a good quantity of pieces.
