It's the first of the month, which can only mean one thing: there are new sets available at LEGO.com!
Actually, it's a fairly quiet month in terms of releases compared to June's onslaught, but there are some highly desirable sets among the five that are launched today:
42240 Aston Martin Aramco AMR25 F1 Car ($230 / £199 / €230)
The pinball machine is a great functional model which I praised in my review, and the Swedish sports car is pretty awesome, too. I'm about 70% through building it, which has been a struggle during the western European heatwave. That's why I have not posted a review yet!
Unfortunately, gifts with purchase are thin on the ground, with just 40894 Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Steering Wheel being offered to purchasers of 42232 Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Megacar between now and the 6th of July.
Today's random set is 6765 Gold City Junction, released during 1996. It's one of 6 Western sets produced that year. It contains 350 pieces and 6 minifigs, and its retail price was US$50, which equates to about US$105 in today's money.
It's owned by 4,570 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at Brick Owl, BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $427.80, or eBay.
Today's random figure is sh0976Gamora - Dark Red Printed Legs, a Super Heroes figure that came in one set, 76286 The Milano Spaceship, released during 2024.
Our members collectively own a total of 3,322 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at Brick Owl or BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $13.00.
75455 Boba Fett has been announced as the latest of several large-scale Star Wars characters released lately and perhaps one of the most impressive.
This set will be available from August 1st, containing 1544 pieces and costing £149.99, $169.99 or €169.99. Similar to most figures of this size, the legs are static and attached to the base, but you can adjust the arms and head for different poses.
In addition, the set comes with the Boba Fett minifigure that was conspicuously absent from 75396 Desert Skiff & Sarlacc Pit and 75397 Jabba's Sail Barge, based on his appearance in Return of the Jedi.
Display frames provide a means of showcasing your favourite models on the wall, and are particularly useful when you've run out of horizontal surfaces to put them on.
In addition to making acrylic cases, such as the one we reviewed recently, BrickZoneHub also manufactures wall-mounted frames for specific models, such as the Technic ultimate cars.
The company has sent me one for 42172 McLaren P1 to peruse, which incorporates an LED strip around its perimeter.
LEGO Editions has focused on sport thus far, but now turns to music with several sets based on Olivia Rodrigo's work! The press release follows:
Built 4 U: The LEGO Group and Olivia Rodrigo Drop New Collection Inviting Fans to Find a Story in Every Piece
The LEGO Group and Olivia Rodrigo announce a new collaboration that invites fans to step inside the GRAMMY-award winning, multi-platinum artist’s universe across five collectable LEGO sets filled with hidden references, iconic looks and stories from every era of her astounding career.
The new LEGOEditions Olivia Rodrigo collection captures the emotion and energy that has made the 23-year-old singer-songwriter one of the defining artists of her generation - from sold-out stadium tours and festival stages, to heartbreak anthems, handwritten lyrics and love stories hidden between the lines.
Olivia Rodrigo is the first ever music artist to receive multiple dedicated LEGO sets, including five LEGO minifigures. Created in collaboration with Olivia, the collection features custom detailing inspired by some of her most iconic on-stage moments through the years and nods to her Philippine roots. Each minifigure features her unmistakable expressions and showcases some of her favourite looks, just as all five characters come with dual facial expressions, revealing different sides of Olivia’s personality.
Shunting locomotives are the unseen workhorses of the rail yard. 60509 Harbour Freight Train is a well-designed little engine that fulfils this role well
43023 Lando Norris Helmet is one of four Formula 1 Drivers' helmets that have been released this year and what's interesting about this one is that it's a model of the helmet that was worn only once by the British driver, at Monaco this year, to celebrate McLaren's 1000th race.
I'm not going to do a full review because, construction-wise, it's 90% the same as 43014 Charles Leclerc Helmet, which we reviewed fully earlier this year.
For me, this LEGO City train set looks as if it has the most play potential of the three sets released this year and I have been looking forward to the release date with anticipation.
Read on to see whether you agree with my early assessment of this set.

Houses for the main characters of the Friends have been staple since the inception of the theme. For the original cast, one Friends house was released every other year, which meant that poor Andrea had to wait ten years for hers! Fortunately, that was remedied by the fact that she was the only one of the original cast to get a house upon growing up.
When I reviewed the first house of the new generation, I said that I hoped that the houses would come out more frequently than every two years. It's kind of worked out that way - 41730 Autumn's House was released three years ago, and 42620 Olly and Paisley's Family Houses was released two years ago. However, last year was Friends house-less, so we're averaging about one a year. At this rate, it will take a long time to get through the rest of the Friends.
In any event, 42687 Liann's Family House is next on the list. Liann is featured in a lot of sets this year, so let's take a look at her house.
