THIS WEEK'S BINGE...

This week, I've been bouncing back and forth between binge-watching M*A*S*H on Hulu and Titus on Christopher Titus' YouTube channel (free). There are worse ways to spend my quarantined nights. #MASH #Titus

What are you binging?

LET'S ROLL, KATO! NEW GREEN HORNET FACT BOOK ROLLS INTO STORES!

There's a new Green Hornet book available on Amazon Kindle (Paper copies to come next spring) called "Let's Roll, Kato" A Guide to TV's Green Hornet by Billie Ray Bates. This book contains an interview, insights, and Green Hornet memories from me. GH fans should check it out here.

Big thanks to Billie Ray Bates for including me in this book. Much appreciated.

Bobby

About Let's Roll, Kato: A Guide to TV's Green Hornet (BRBTV Fact Book Series 6):
It was the series that presented a beloved radio hero in living color on the small screen – and at the same time introduced a martial arts legend-in-the-making, Bruce Lee. It was “The Green Hornet,” produced by the team that brought you the 1966 “Batman” series and starring Van Williams as the emerald-clad avenger secretly posing as a criminal to bring down the most notorious gangsters, racketeers and wrongdoers.

The ABC series lasted only one TV season, 1966-67, but a wealth of information still exists on it. Now, in this guide released just as the show turns 50, BRBTV chronicles it all, from the planning of the series in the mid-‘60s, as shepherded by character co-creator George W. Trendle and executive producer William Dozier, through each and every episode, to the fandom beyond. Author and journalist Billie Rae Bates talked with series star Van Williams and other members of the cast and crew, as well as writers and other industry professionals who have been involved with the show’s lore over the decades.

In “Let’s Roll, Kato: A Guide to TV’s Green Hornet,” you’ll find lots of facts and fun surrounding this classic TV show:
- A history of the development of the series, as well as background on each of the principal stars
- Cast list and character guide
- Episode synopses, plus background on the storylines and scripts
- A look at the Black Beauty car, with input from owners of both screen-used and replica vehicles
- A listing of the many gadgets used by the Hornet, both inside the car and out
- An in-depth look at the books and comics that sprung from the series, with input from the writers and artists who helped produce them
- Detailed guide to the vast and varied merchandise celebrating the series, with plenty of photos (color in this Kindle edition!)

The sixth big book in the BRBTV fact book series, with beautiful cover art by Baltimore artist Dale Cuthbertson, “Let’s Roll, Kato” is jam-packed -- this Kindle edition clocks in at the equivalent of 435 letter-sized pages!

BRBTV has been a solid source of information on classic 1980s TV shows since 1998. You can learn more about the author and her other fun-fact reference guides, which focus on "Dallas," "Dynasty," "The Dukes of Hazzard," "Wonder Woman" and "The Secrets of Isis," at BRBTV.com. Also check out the BRBTV Reports in Kindle format on Amazon, quick and snappy feature stories for several classic animated shows. You can find Let’s Roll, Kato: A Guide to TV’s Green Hornet here.

THE WRAP UP! TIMEGATE GOES OUT ON A HIGH NOTE!

My Timegate 2016 author table!
Timegate 2016 program book
Last weekend I was a guest at Timegate 2016! I've been a guest at TimeGate a number of times in the past and I always have a great time. Timegate is a small show compared to beasts like DragonCon and San Diego Comicon, but that's a big part of its charm. It's a relaxicon where you can sit back and enjoy spending time with fans and guests alike. Little did I know that this year's con would be the final TimeGate. Yes. As with all good things, this too has come to an end, but this is science fiction so nothing stays gone forever.

Next year, TimeGate regenerates (see what I did there?) into WHOLANTA!

TimeGate (and next year, WHOLANTA) is an annual Doctor Who
WHOLANTA begins 2017!
and British media and culture convention in Atlanta, GA. Attendees come from all over the Southeast, all over the nation and even from as far away as England to take part in the festivities. Launched in 2005, the convention hits its 10 year anniversary in 2015 with special guest Katy Manning and Michelle Gomez. Past Doctor Who guests have included actors Colin Baker, Sophie Aldred, Mary Tamm, John Levene, Colin Spaull and Caitlin Blackwood, script editors Terrance Dicks and Andrew Cartmel, composer Dominic Glynn, film editor Louis Robinson, and more.

Ma and my...
TAAA-AAR-RDIS!
For 2016, we celebrated 20 years of the 8th Doctor with special guest, the 8th Doctor himself, Paul McGann. I was fortunate to meet Mr. McGann, who was easily accessible and such a nice guy. A great guest. I'm kicking myself for not grabbing a photo with him. I also got to spend time with some amazing guests like Louise Robinson (one of the nicest people you'll ever meet) Nicholas Briggs, Terry Malloy, Jason Haigh-Ellery from Big Finish, my pals from the ESO Network, who were out in full force-- Mike Faber, Mike Gordon, Jennifer Hartshorn, Judy Faber, William Faber, Dr. Scott Viguie, Debbie Viguie, Jason De La Torre, Rita De La Torre, and quite a few friends of the station. Also on hand were artist Dimitri Walker, authors Jonathan French, A.R. Cook, and Lee Martindale, Monsterama's Anthony Taylor, Lt. Moxie Magnus, and more.

I had a table set up with my books, including the new Sherlock Holmes/Domino Lady trade collection, which was my biggest seller of the weekend. I also did 3 panels and Gallifrey Game Night, which was more laughs than I ever thought it would be.

I'd also like to say special thanks to Rebecca Perry for helping me with my table during the con while I ran off to do panels. Much appreciated.

TIMEGATE 2016 PANEL SCHEDULE RELEASED!

The panel schedule is live!
Ready to start planning your TimeGate weekend?

The only way to travel.
Well, now you can!

The TimeGate 2016 Programming Schedule is here! This is a full list of everything we have planned for you for this year's convention. Keep in mind that there may still be an edit or two over the coming week, as we finalize panelists and make final tweaks (there are a couple of panelist conflicts we have to resolve). Once the schedule is completely finished, the app will be loaded with all the event information and released. You'll be hearing more about some exciting changes with the app very soon. For now, though, you can consider the schedule to be about 95% complete. (Like battle, no con schedule survives contact with the enemy. Ha!)

You can find the full Google Doc schedule here on on Timegate's website.

I will also have a table at the convention where I will have books for sale or if you just want to stop by and say hello or chat.

If you're there Saturday night, please come out to Gallifrey Game Night. I have no idea what I'm in for so I can use all the cheering, friendly faces I can get. I'm a little nervous.

See you there.

BOBBY TALKS COMICS ON TV AT NEEDLESS THINGS PODCAST!

Earlier this week, I joined Phantom Troublemaker and Needless Things' Head of Research Ryan for a fun conversation about the current crop of television shows that have been adapted from comics on the Needless Things podcast

Needless Things Podcast 93 – Comic Books on TV
Phantom Troublemaker is joined by Needless Things' Head of Research Ryan and award-winning writer Bobby Nash for a conversation about the current crop of television shows that have been adapted from comics!

We are currently blessed with a huge crop of quality television shows
that have their roots in the world of comic books. Arrow kicked off a golden age of comic book TV shows that now includes The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Gotham, and on the Marvel side of things Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter (with more to come!). All of these shows have had ups and downs and each is a very different sort of experience.

Join Phantom, Bobby, and Ryan as they discuss the joys of this glut of comic booky goodness!

Listen to Needless Things Podcast 93 – Comic Books on TV here.

Be sure to join the new Needless Things Podcast Facebook Group and get in on the conversation for this week’s episode! Let us know what you think!

BOBBY PAYS A VISIT TO HELL'S KITCHEN!

I joined the ESMCU crew to talk about Daredevil.
-----
In our 20th episode, John and Jennifer are joined by Bobby Nash and Jp Patrick to dissect the first half of Marvel's first Netflix series, Daredevil. What made it so successful? Does binge watching make a difference in how you tell a story? And what lengths would JP go to, to get Rosario Dawson's phone number?
Please note that we recorded this episode BEFORE Jon Bernthal was announced as the new Punisher, so our lengthy discussion about Jason Statham is all the more amusing now.

Give it a listen here or here.

TIME TRAVELING TO COMDEX '83 - BOBBY'S HALT AND CATCH FIRE EXPERIENCE!

Bobby and Cardiff Electric crew
I was an extra on episode 9 of AMC's TV series, Halt And Catch Fire. Episode Nine takes place partly at the 1983 Comdex Convention in Las Vegas. The shoot took place in a couple of different location in Atlanta, GA a few months back, before the first episode had aired. It was either late February or early April. I do remember it was chilly outside when I arrived early each morning. My dates are a little fuzzy.

I worked on the shoot for three days and had a fun time, although my feet were killing me at the end of each day after many hours standing and walking on hard surfaces. Oh, the pains of just being there, huh? :) I also spent some time fake drinking, fake smoking, and fake picking up women at the bar. I also had a lot of fake conversations on the con floor and got to fake flirt with the porn stars turned booth babes. Fun times. It was also my first time filming against a green screen, which was a neat experience. The shirt I wore was none to flattering, although it fit the era. It was a bit snug.
My 80's flashback wardrobe

For the most part, I'm blurry and in the background, although there is one scene where the cast walks past me while I'm talking with another convention attendee at the windows. It's a fun moment as it's one of the few in the series where the characters seem to be really happy and smiling.

I had fun and was excited to see myself in the episode.

Thanks to the cast and crew for a wonderful experience and thanks to the casting company that hired me. I had a blast.

Enjoy the photos.
