Today's real prompt is a Bookish Wishes, but since I don't really share my bookish wishlist online, I'm instead giving all of you the gift of free short fiction. As usual, these will mostly (if not entirely) be speculative fiction, since that's what I read the most. I've double-checked the links to make sure they all work, but generally I have read these stories in the ebook version of the magazines themselves. I've subscribed to several SFF magazines for a while now, which is where I find most of these stories.

Reading Recap: February 2026
Reading has been up, down, and sideways this month. The only thing I read which I had planned to, really, was Ancillary Mercy. Beyond that, I had other plans for the month, and none of them went quite the way I had intended. I DNFed a book I was excited about (Death of the Author),… Continue reading Reading Recap: February 2026

Readathin August 2023 kinda… snuck in there…
So, I've been participating in the Readathin reading challenges for a while now, and I love them because in among the reading prompts are lots of self-care prompts too. However, I can be notoriously bad at remembering when the next Readathin actually is! I completely forgot to post the bingo board and prompt list for… Continue reading Readathin August 2023 kinda… snuck in there…
Reading Wrap-Up: August 2023
I picked up three audiobooks on Libro.fm's "women in translation" sale, and I was hoping to enjoy them all. However, I only liked one of the three enough to finish it. They're all contemporary books, and the two that I DNFed just held no interest for me. I felt bad for not finishing them, but… Continue reading Reading Wrap-Up: August 2023

2022 Nebula Award Finalists
The 2022 nominees for the Nebula Award have been announced! I haven't read very many of these pieces yet, and honestly I don't know how many I will read in advance of the voting this year. (Unlike the Hugo Awards, I don't have a membership to vote in the Nebula Awards.) Even so, though, I've… Continue reading 2022 Nebula Award Finalists

Reading Wrap-Up: August 2021
August has been a pretty relaxed reading month. It looks like I have a lot of things read, but many of them were short and quick reads, perfect for my current blah mood. (Nothing new is wrong, it's just all that fun anxiety stuff. In 2020 I was mostly a bundle of anxiety all the… Continue reading Reading Wrap-Up: August 2021
