Europe’s AI supercomputing network is expanding!   The European Commission announced six additional AI Factories joining the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) ecosystem.   The new facilities are backed by over 500 million in investment from the EU and Member States and will be established in Czech Republic, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, and Poland, contributing to boosting AI power across the EU.    In addition, new AI Factories Antennas have been announced. While collaborating with AI Factories, they will provide safe remote access to AI-optimised supercomputing resources to researchers and innovators, expanding access to AI talent, infrastructure, and innovation.   They Antennas will be established in Belgium, Cyprus, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Malta, and Slovakia, and in partner countries including Iceland, Moldova, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, North Macedonia, and Serbia.   Learn more about the new AI Factories: https://lnkd.in/efwQGPZD and about the AI Factories Antennas: https://lnkd.in/e5f_gDZV

The content minors encounter online can deeply impact their physical and mental well-being.   Today, the European Commission has taken further steps to ensure online platforms uphold their responsibility of safeguarding minors:   🔹 Asking Snapchat, YouTube, Apple App Store and Google Play for information to ensure they are doing enough to protect minors on their sites 🔹 Probing the sales of illegal products like drugs or vapes, and harmful material such as content promoting eating disorders, or gain access to gambling and ‘nudify’ apps 🔹 Coordinating efforts across the EU to ensure smaller platforms meet their obligations to protect young people online 🔹 Releasing a new version of our blueprint for an EU age verification solution. Today, the European Commission launched the 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗔𝗜 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 to speed up AI adoption in strategic sectors, enhancing EU competitiveness and technological sovereignty. Being part of the EU's plan to become an AI continent, the Apply AI Strategy will help harness the transformative potential of AI for the public sector and key industrial sectors, like healthcare, energy, mobility, manufacturing, construction, agri-food or defence. It will boost EU capabilities to unlock societal benefits, from enabling more accurate healthcare diagnoses to enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of public services. Through an AI First policy, it encourages companies to embrace AI while considering the risks. It will foster the growth of the European AI ecosystem, by accelerating the time to market and linking infrastructure, data, and testing facilities.
