Iowa Court of Appeals
Van Zimmer was a judge on the Iowa Court of Appeals. He was appointed to this court in 1999 and retired in 2008.[1]
Education
Zimmer received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Iowa. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army.[1]
Career
In 1973, Judge Zimmer worked as an assistant county attorney for Linn County and an adjunct college instructor. He later became an area prosecutor for the Iowa Attorney General’s Office, an assistant United States attorney for the Northern District of Iowa, and a member of a private law firm. He served on a district court for thirteen years before his appointment to the Court of Appeals.[1]
