Peggy Sue Owens was born in Bandon, Oregon. She graduated from Bandon High School. She attended Southwestern Oregon Community College and Portland State University. Her career experience includes working as a president and CEO and in administration and customer service. She has been affiliated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars - Auxiliary.^[1]

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Not a politician. I am a small business owner who lives and works in my district. I was born in Bandon, Oregon and move to Portland in 1981 to attend PSU. I am a single mom, with 3 grandchildren. I am tired of the people in office not representing our district. I would like to be a voice for my neighbors and ensure that our communities voices are heard.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Not a politician, no agenda. Not accepting campaign funds, I wish to support my community not some PAC.
If you want real change please research the people you intend to vote for and understand if they represent you or just 4 more years of the same things you don't like now.
Together I believe that we can make our communities livable again. This is an opportunity for all of our neighbors to be involved with the decisions that affect our neighborhoods.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Safety, Livability restoring the PPD. Repairing our streets, sidewalks and lighting. Accountability, I want to know what the city is spending our money on and whether it would be better spent elsewhere. Gentrification of neighbors and pricing our neighbors out of their homes.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Amelia Earhart- she wasn't afraid to take chances.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

We the People: The Citizen & the Constitution

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

listen to the people and act in their best interest, even if its not what you want.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

Reliable, ability to multitask, strong communication skills, commitment to listening and understand various perspectives. Ability to make informed decisions based on data and analysis, adaptability to changing situations, ethical conduct.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Accountability. Promote a high level of work, Encourage honesty, Promote dependability, and Gain trust from others.

What legacy would you like to leave?

Family. I would like to have the kind of legacy left behind by my mother and grandmother. They were the glue that held our family together. Treating people fairly.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

Robert Kennedy Assassination on my 4th birthday.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

1st real job-Dishwasher - 2 weeks, got promoted to waitress.

What is your favorite book? Why?

Dracula-original by Bram Stoker. Terrifying

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

Eeyore

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Loss. My brother Johnny died in 1966, Baby Owens died in 1970, My brother James died in 1983 My Nephew James died in 2005, My sister died in 2019, my dad died in 2009 and my mom in 2023. As well as numberous family and friends.

It stays dark All night long.

What are your views on financial transparency and government accountability?

Ability to hold the government accountable for each spending decision, to reduce wasteful spending in the government.
