This spread is interesting because the horizontal lines on the left page contrast greatly with the vertical text on the right page. This does have the potential to hinder any unity between the pages but in this case the purple on both pages prevents this from happening. The contrast of the direction of the lines makes the spread more eye-popping in this case.
