little pink circles for you and me

ok, with apologies to john mellankamp!  happy PINK SATURDAY!! i've been playing along with PS for several weeks and while the only thing pink in this creation is the circles i've also been playing circles in honor of the "going around in circles" challenge at THE CHEERFUL STAMP PAD...
i did a lot of playing around with the embellished circles technique from the technique junkies newsletter.  this was also my july "just one" trade with my TJNL partner. the pink circles in question are the solid circle stamp from the floriculture sheet at Rogue Redhead designs.  the vintage image is a free download from french kissed postcards.  the rest of the stamps are from connor's collectibles and hero arts.
happy summer, happy pink saturday and love to all.

more circles!

summer greetings to all.  since the challenge at the the cheerful stamp pad is all about circles i've got circles on the brain so i've done more circle-ful cards!

this one utilizes the embellished circles technique from the technique junkies -- or at least my interpretation of the technique. i don't have a lot of circle stamps but i used circle-like spiral flowers from connor's collectibles as well as a solid circle from the RogueRedhead floriculture sheet for my circle background.  then i had fin with sticker dots, ribbons, buttons and a lovely vintage image from magic moonlight free images.  there are also a couple goodies from other random stashes of who-knows-what.

this was pleasing to make.  more circles in the coming days...
love to all.

circles challenge at the cheerful stamp pad

after a little vacation hiatus Vicki has another challenge going at the cheerful stamp pad and it is all about circles.  our challenge sponsor is TLC Creations.  TLC has a great challenge blog and some fabulous digital goodies at their TLC store.  i visited the store and had a fun time shopping around.  here's my DT creation:
apart from the butterfly from k & company this is a fully digitally created treat, something i've not really done before.  i used her garden sheet background papers and working in photoshop i moved several flower circles from the summer sherbert set onto the garden background.  i had fun placing the circles in a way to get the design most pleasing to me.  i printed it out on glossy paper, did some fancy cutting and then adhered it to some lovely card stock by the the paper temptress.

i hope you like!  circles are fun to work with and there are so many things you can do with them.  i'll be posting some more circle creations in the coming days.  meanwhile why don't you hop on over to the cheerful stamp pad and play along?

love to all.

pink saturday + pink and orange journal journey

i am happily celebrating PINK SATURDAY as well as Crafty Dawn's journal journeys pink and orange challenge for the month of July.  it was such a gift to be at the crafting table again after a long stressfully busy time in life when i just didn't have the energy.  i am so grateful for scissors and glue and all of our goodly tools!

i knew i wanted to do some kind of collage for the journal page.  i used my 8x8 journal book and gathered lots of pink and orange papers of a variety of textures and patterns.  i began laying out to my heart's content.  i had already stamped a wonderful stampsmith image -- a face with flowers which i'd already colored in with pinks and oranges so i wanted to include that.

i embellished with a lot of additional goodies.  the butterflies are from a moonlight journeys collage sheet.  most of the rest are from either k & company or are random stash items.

since the pink and orange theme was an homage to summer i found a short poem online that seemed fitting.  in photoshop i created a background in the color orange and i used the gradient tool on it.  i typed the poem on to that and then with some cutting and tearing i had my centerpiece.  i am so glad that Dawn is doing this journal challenge and i look forward to joining again in August.  meanwhile i guess i'm getting to be a full-fledged pink saturday devotee as well!

by the way special thanks to Linda at scrappinbears studio.  a lot of the lovely papers came from her.  she was giving away from her excess and i was a lucky recipient.  she sent me a huge box of gorgeous papers and many of them are a part of this journal page.  thank you Linda!

peace and love to all.

pinking it up

okay some of you are wondering if i'm ever going to make anything again.  i am and i'll post it and you may have to hear my sad story about why i haven't been making much but anyway i promise i am alive and even though i haven't had much time for precious art i've had some fun taking photos for PINK SATURDAY!!
so enjoy the ride and perhaps join the fun!

speaking of enjoying the ride look what i saw!
once you start noticing pink stuff it turns up everywhere!
the day after i saw the pink grayline bus i went to see our local roller derby rat city rollergirls for their final championship bout!  and there were several members of the throtlle rockets team wandering around all pinked out!

so i made them take a picture with me.  (tee hee!)
and THEN the half time show featured an aerial acrobatics group called the aerialistas and they are all about the pink.

so i thought that was all i'd have for you guys but nope.  my DH knew i was taking photos of pink things and he took a super close up photo of a part of our butterfly bush. until i saw the photo i thought the flowers were all purple but close up you see quite a bit of pink.

happy pink saturday friends!  click the link to join the fun.
love to all.

pink saturday time!

recently i visited the japanese gardens at the gorgeous treasure of an arboretum here in seattle. i saw these flowers and thought, aha, this will be a good pink saturday share! so i took this photo and it makes me smile. the smile is because the flowers are lovely but also because i have a wonderful new camera thanks to DH.  it is small and easy to have around for those "just in case i need a photo" moments but it is also a high quality Nikon.  i'm very glad to have it.
