Viking pocket knife from my collection. Bronze case fairly good condition, still with iron blade inside and intact. You can see the circles stamped in a pattern form. Length of this 17cm common with Viking relics, Roman, Celtic the dot followed by the outer circle. Probably around 10-11th AD ,this is the only type like this I have seen. Dug up around Latvia

Beautiful early folding knife with brass sides inscribed, IN GOD IS AL MI TRVSTE 1585 and A TRVSTY FRENDE IS HARDE TO FIND (private collection) -- pubd by Simon Moore in JAMS 26 (2021) 66, fig.12. Curiously one of the bells in the church at Passenham, Northants bears the same TRUSTY FRENDE proverb with the same date.
