I found a workaround in the meantime. I used automated orkaudio installer which had xerces 2.8.0 embedded in it. It installed orkaudio along with xerces 2.8.0 for me. Afterwards I could successfully build and install both orkbasecxx and orkaudio.

You can obtain xerces 2.8.0 from http://archive.apache.org/dist/xerces/c/binaries/

While installing dependencies, I found that xercesc-2.8.0 is discontinued. So I installed xercesc-3.1.3.
Now the issue is that xercesc-3.1.3 does not have DOMWriter.hpp and DOMWriterFilter.hpp.
WHEREAS oreka source code refers to both of these files. I am unable to build orkbasecxx because of this.
Please suggest how to proceed.
