Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Data on tiger salamander body mass, behavioral activity, and insecticide residues
We evaluated potential effects of deltamethrin and fipronil on tiger salamander (Ambystoma mavortium) body mass, behavioral activity, and insecticide tissue residues. Insecticides were applied at realistic concentrations in mesocosms mimicking prairie dog burrows, which are used as refuge by salamanders under natural conditions. Treatments included (1) deltamethrin dust, (2) prairie dog...
Walrus Haulout Audio Recordings Near Point Lay 2024
This dataset consists of a complete set of audio recordings collected near a large walrus haulout at Point Lay, Alaska, during September of 2024. The recordings were collected using the Song Meter Mini 2 (Wildlife Acoustics, Inc., Maynard, MA) at two sites, one within 150 m of a large walrus herd resting on shore and one placed more than 4 km to the south of the herd directly under the...
Water Level, Water Temperature, and Vegetation Biomass at the Nisqually River Delta, WA
This dataset contains water level, water temperature, and vegetation data from 12 locations within the Nisqually River Delta, Washington from 2010 to 2015. This dataset was part of a larger monitoring effort to document hydrological and vegetation changes throughout the Nisqually River Delta following large scale estuarine restoration (dike removal) in 2009.
Greater Sage-Grouse Survival Encounter Histories and Counts in Association with Precipitation, Temperature, and Drought in the Great Basin, USA
A suite of tables filled with greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus; hereafter sage-grouse) survival data and environmental covariate values, extracted to sage-grouse nest, brood, and general locations, as well as lek locations. We quantified 8 indicators of temperature and/or moisture conditions across time spans representing lags of 0-1.5 years, while accounting for other...
Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) Projections for the Contiguous United States Based on the CMIP5 MACAv2-METDATA Downscaled Climate Dataset
The dataset consists of projections of 1-12 months Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) between 1950-2099 for the contiguous United States from 20 climate models and 2 emission scenarios at a 4km spatial resolution. The SPEI dataset was developed using the SPEI package in R (Beguería & Vicente-Serrano, 2023). SPEI quantifies standardized departures in the balance...
At-site flood frequency estimates for 64 urban streamgages in Alabama and Mississippi using data through water year 2024
This dataset contains site information and results of flood frequency analysis for 64 urban streamflow gaging stations (streamgages) operated by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in Alabama and Mississippi. Site information and annual peak-flow data from the 1885 - 2024 water years were obtained from the USGS National Water Information System (NWIS) database (U.S. Geological Survey, 2025...
Radiocarbon ages, whole-rock chemistry, and electron probe microanalysis of lavas (1877, 1832, 1823, Kealaalea Hills, and Keanakākoʻi Tephra periods) from Kīlauea's summit and Southwest Rift Zone, Island of Hawaiʻi
This dataset includes radiocarbon ages, wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WD-XRF) major-oxide and trace-element whole-rock analyses, and glass, olivine, and pyroxene analyses by electron microprobe (EPMA) of spatter and lava samples from the summit and Southwest Rift Zone of Kīlauea volcano, Island of Hawaiʻi. All of the radiocarbon ages were analyzed by DirectAMS in Bothell...
High-resolution seismic data acquired at two seismic recording stations (BK.LIND and BK.KARE) in San Joaquin Valley, California
In November of 2021, the U.S. Geological Survey acquired high-resolution P- and S-wave seismic data at two seismic recording stations in Tulare and Fresno counties, California: Berkeley Digital Seismic Network BK.LIND and BK.KARE. We deployed 60 DTCC SmartSolo 3-component nodal seismometers (“nodes”) at 2-m intervals along a linear array at each seismic recording station. The nodes...
Protein Phosphatase 2A screening of extracted sediments for samples collected for the Sediment-Bound Contaminant Resiliency and Response Strategy pilot study, northeastern United States, 2015
Coastal communities are uniquely vulnerable to sea-level rise and severe storms such as hurricanes. These events enhance the dispersion and concentration of natural and anthropogenic chemicals and pathogenic microorganisms that could adversely affect the health and resilience of coastal communities and ecosystems in subsequent years. The U.S. Geological Survey has developed the Sediment...
Phytoplankton data for Kansas lakes and reservoirs, August 2020 through August 2022
This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release includes phytoplankton data collected from four reservoirs in Kansas, during August 2020 through August 2022. All data are reported as raw calculated values and are not rounded to USGS significant figures. The dataset includes all routine and quality assurance/quality control samples collected at twenty-five locations within Marion...
High resolution fractional tree cover and change over time for Olympic, Mount Rainier, and Glacier National Parks
High resolution fractional tree cover and change over time for Olympic, Mount Rainier, and Glacier National Parks from the mid-1980s to the mid-2020s. Date of annual snapshots of tree cover and the temporal range of change over time in tree cover vary by location. See metadata files associated with individual parks for specific details.
Isotopic data and trace element data for siliceous sinter geyserite deposits, El Tatio Geyser Field, Chile
This dataset contains U-Th isotope ratios and trace element abundances for hydrothermal siliceous sinter deposits from several geyser localities in El Tatio Geyser Field, Chile.
