(Ik it looks off-center, the edge if the pellon is just curved on that side a lil) I'm still new to beadworking but I'm proud of what I've been makin so far! Lots'a things to improve but das just how growth is

Óki! (Hi!) All of dis art is from 2021-2023, I've been wanting to come back to it for a while but didn't get the chance! I have few others but bullsquids I happened to draw the most of! But I do also have a houndeye, some headcrabs, and some boid! You might've seen this art before on an older half-life themed blog with da name Freeing-the-man (referencing Freeman's last name) but I'm not as active on Der anymore, I split off into my own blog (dis one) but ya!!
Some of these stem from the base game stuff (classic bullsquid, beta game bullsquid, and hl2 bullsquid) but many are completely speculative

These are absolutely fantastic!!! The variation… the colours… the anatomy…. This is wonderful!!
I seriously appreciate the HL2 based one…. I see the vision both from the original and from what you added!!! This makes so much sense….
+ also the beta bullsquid; I can see where each design based off of a pre-existing one comes from, but they’re still clearly so so distinct and have their own roots! Fantastic adaptation here :D
(Optional questions, if you don’t want to answer, that’s alright - but if you want to share some of your designer’s insight I would love to hear!) Do you have a favourite out of all of these designs? :0 was there any feature you really wanted to highlight, with your versions? Was there anything particularly fun to adapt?

YIPPEE!! it's hard to pick a favorite, but I DO love the one that I call the "kelp squid" (that striped green one) but honestly I'm pretty happy with how all of them turned out, I'm bias toward the classic and darker colorations but they're all fun to look back on!
In terms of features, I wanted to try a tetrapodal bullsquid (as you may have noticed they have little, nearly vestigial arms!), I also made them a bit more adapted to terrestrial life (some more than others) with a more upright, legs under hips, theropod design!
It was really fun and challenging to figure out their jaws in particular, such interesting beasties!
Also I thought I'd share some of the other designs that don't get as much recognition (probably cuz I didn't make as many illustrations for them):
Headcrab evolution from the resonance cascade up until hl2 (its rapid evolution ik but they were put under extreme pressure and I personally believe the combine tampered a bit with things), a houndeye, those weird tentacle thangs, TWO BOID YAY!!(I love boid sm), then a little sneak peak at the bullsquid/houndeye anatomy underneath (as I had to kinda construct how the anatomy would be from the ground up)

THE OWL(?)-LIKE INFLUENCE OF THE HOUNDEYES…. I SEE IT. That’s a WONDERFUL interpretation!! I also love what you’ve done for their hind leg…. It makes so much sense, anatomically!!! Also the colouration is gorgeous….
I also rlly like the Headcrab evolution!! I saw a post a long time ago about them being domesticated as pets for the HL2 universe, but I never considered their own evolution to the natural variants HL2 leaves us with… You have met this head-on and I love it :D It makes me want to develop stuff for them too! I oughta revisit HL1 and 2 to see if they have a concrete life cycle…. I might need to compile info and take a crack at it
+ your rendering on the tentacle is GORGEOUS; a very under-appreciated Xen critter… And your charts for the Boid are AWESOME! What were some of your influences for the design, do you remember? :0

This makes me want to pick up Xen speculation again!! The first game, as much as I love it, felt like only a glimpse into the entire Xen ecosystem…. There’s potential for so much going on but they didn’t have the time….

Your art is so cool!!!! Amazed generally by anyone who can draw birds, but the shapes you use are so gorgeous and I love how... complete? your pieces look. I can't wait to see more!!!
Eee!! TYSM!!!! Honestly I specialized hard in drawing birds for many reasons, but namely I feel like stylistic drawings of birds aren't common enough! I see all kinds of people stylize horses and cats for example (no shade, I ADORE their works and they were still big inspirations for me) but for me, birds have been very important (can you tell coast salish people raised me LOL)
So, I decided to be the person who combines a contemporary style of drawing with real bird anatomy. Especially because I grew up with the contrast between European art of bird wings (on angels mostly, which i personally feel doesn't capture them but may just be my personal taste) and coast salish design and formline, which I feel captures birds in a way that feels a lot more representative to me!
You'll still surely notice some more traditional design in my works from time to time, growing up around formline and coast salish design DEFINITELY influenced my style, and of course I bring my own culture (I am niitsitapi) into my art, but I will also post a lot of contemporary art!
Also I've added dis Lil raven doodle, the text reads " Nitsíniiyi’taki " which I would say means "thank you" but is more like saying 'I am grateful'
I'm so glad you like my art! I hope to do my best to keep posting, but it may come in bursts, especially once I start treatment! And the same for my chatting, but I'm always open to ppl chattin with me!

Here is a WIP headband I'm workin on, please be mindful that this is my first time making one and I'm relatively new to beadworking! My designs here are very simple and pretty contemporary, but I like to think I'm doin pretty well for someone who just started beading in November, wah!
