On top of all this, my father is seriously ill, and his health condition is deteriorating day by day, while proper hospitals and medications are unavailable.

Life has truly become a living hell beyond human endurance. We have reached a point where we wish for death instead of this hell we are forced to live through every single moment.

The most recent ceasefire has not meant an end to genocide. We must contextualize this truth within the larger historical reality: Palestine has been enduring genocidal aggression from Israel since 1948. There are periods of greater intensity, but no periods of actual relief from this state. This is the reality of all settler-colonial projects, including Zionism. We must combat this genocide not as an outlier, but as deeply embedded in global structures of colonialism.

These are not unprecedented times. This moment of constant atrocity continues steadily from each previous year. There is no way to rewind the clock. This does not mean further atrocity is inevitable. It is not fate.

Genocide is not a force of "human nature" that we must live with. It is something humans are doing, and allowing to happen, and fighting against, and being martyred within, and surviving, all at once.

We all have a role to play in how things progress from here. Time moves forward, and we must take accountability for how our collective decisions shape the future we must all endure.

My friend Fadel is enduring the roughest consequences of all of our collective decisions. He is a young man, living in Gaza. He survived the bombing of his family home, but lives with chronic pain from untreated injuries. His family has been living in a tent since then, tattered and repeatedly flooded in winter storms. They have been sick for weeks now, unable to recover under these conditions.

@fadel-dani runs a fundraiser to afford food, supplies, and medicine (gazavetters list #197). Hopefully he will raise enough to get to a better resourced hospital outside of Gaza where surgeons can remove the shrapnel from his body that causes him constant pain.

These are the events of his life. We cannot go back in time and prevent these traumas from happening to him. His life can only move forward from this moment. We all have a role to play in what happens to him from here. Please help change the course of his life.

We in Gaza have been left to face death alone. My family and I live this reality every day. We don't receive enough food; we share what little we have, and it's never enough. We go to sleep wondering if we'll find anything to eat tomorrow. We have no shelter from the rain and cold. Our tent is flooded, and the ground beneath us is muddy and freezing.

We try to protect ourselves with what little we have… and we have nothing. We suffer from illness without medicine. Maha and her family previously had a verified GFM to pay for basic necessities like food, medical care, and some form of shelter. Horrifically, the person running their former GFM has stolen from them and hijacked their campaign.

Somehow, it gets worse

Maha’s 8-year-old daughter Joan, who we’ve explained has a history of gastric health problems, has fallen seriously ill with the viral gastroenteritis that is going around Gaza. She is severely dehydrated and needs to be on IV for fluids and to receive medicine.

Her treatment has accumulated €1000 EUR in costs, and the extension of her treatment for another week means Maha will owe an additional €1000 EUR. Maha’s husband is stranded in Egypt after accompanying his father for medical treatment. His expenses prevent him from being any help to his wife and children. You are their only hope.

We will start with the first €1000 EUR sum, the amount already owed to the hospital. We need to raise this URGENTLY, as the hospital will terminate Joan’s treatment if the outstanding balance is not paid soon.

Malnourished Gaza toddler recovering from severe infected wound

We have spoken about baby Ayla here many times. Unfortunately, she continues to suffer. Somehow Ayla incurred a small injury to her finger and it became severely infected due to the sanitation crisis. Your support helped her mother be able to pay for her treatment, but her immune system is still compromised due to malnutrition. Now there is a major storm moving towards Gaza, threatening lethal cold and chilling rain. Her mother needs funds for blankets and for fuel for a small portable stove which they are using to heat their living space.
