Critical Fire Weather Conditions in the Southern Plains; Showers and Thunderstorms Linger Over Florida

A cold front will pass through late Tuesday into Wednesday with increasing west/northwest winds. This will lead to rougher waters on Fort Peck Lake with up to around 6 foot waves. A High Wind Warning has been issued for Southwest Phillips County from Tuesday Afternoon through Wednesday Afternoon for gusts near 60 mph at times. Thus, expect dangerous cross winds along north to south oriented highways such as 191 south of Malta.
A warm front will bring in sharply warmer temperatures in the 60s and 70s for Tuesday, however, a strong cold front will drop highs back into the 30s and 40s for Wednesday. There will be enough instability for a few stray thunderstorms in the late afternoon/evening Tuesday, followed by lingering showers turning to snow on Wednesday.
