Gary "Eggsy" Unwin (Taron Egerton), whose late father secretly worked for a spy organization, lives in a South London housing estate and seems headed for a life behind bars. However, dapper agent Harry Hart (Colin Firth) recognizes potential in the youth and recruits him to be a trainee in the Secret Service. Meanwhile, villainous Richmond Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) launches a diabolical plan to solve the problem of climate change via a worldwide killing spree.

What a load of stupid drivel. Pointless time consumption. Red a book or file your nails. Much more interesting than this crap. A celebration of the unsophisticated rubbish being spoon fed to the acquiescing masses.

Iconic action movie that defined its own style of action sequences, launched the career of Taron Egerton and created an entire franchise. Rarely do you see an action movie elevate itself beyond "innocent fun", but this movie truely sets itself apart and dared to reinvent action movies within it's own style.

While it didn't resonate with me personally, Kingsman is far from terrible. The James Bond-esque concept is intriguing, and the film delivers on laughs, clever direction, and action sequences, thanks to standout performances from the cast. Grading: B

This movie wants to do everything. It is a parody, satire, epic summer smash, spy movie, drama, and tale of becoming a man. I know some of that is purposeful, and tongue in cheek. The soundtrack is reused from the Avengers, to which it was much more suited. The combat is ridiculous, which would be fine it this was like Austin Powers or Top Secret! However this wants to send up spy movies and 'epic' hero movies, but also wants to be that thing it is making fun of. A shame as I liked elements of what was done here, but as a whole it is an overbearing mess.
