According to Wikipedia, A moon gate is a circular opening in a garden wall that acts as a pedestrian passageway and is a traditional architectural element in Chinese gardens. As it visually rises up out of the landscape, a moon gate is symbolic of birth and renewal.

Kudos to Danny Boyle and the London Olympics design team for sculpturing the grass. Topiary is done by manicuring hedges, but here they sculpted the hill itself, maybe a first? I chose this shot because the tree on top seems OVER the top, the design would look more balanced without it.
