This is the hit musical theatre session that launched SSTI in 2007, and led to SSTI’s ranking among the TOP FIVE SUMMER THEATRE PROGRAMS IN THE NATION. Students spend the first three weeks of this program with the development of a professional musical- helmed by a director from a major university program or Broadway. The final week of programming is devoted to college-level coursework and structure, allowing students a glimpse into their future education. The program concludes with preparing audition materials one-on-one with visiting professors from the nation’s top colleges and universities.

This specialized program pairs a limited number of technical theatre students with our extraordinary master instructors to create a summer tech theatre experience like none other.   Beyond daily classroom work, SSTI Tech students are designing, constructing, and building a professional show. They're trained in the art of documenting one's work and how to present their craft, abilities, and skills in a college or professional interview. SSTI Tech students annually stand high above the competition for the top collegiate programs.    This is THE opportunity and home for that special student who wants to live and thrive in the world of backstage theatre.

SSTI Tech: On Deck offers a dynamic introduction to the many worlds of tech theatre, with hands-on experience in a condensed, fast-paced format. This program is perfect for students seeking to build strong technical foundations and professional presentation skills, all while receiving mentorship from experts across a variety of specializations.

Students will spend their week working on a variety of production-based projects, designed to strengthen both their technical skill and their collaborative creativity.
