Duke Dumont

Duke Dumont aka Adam Dyment's transition from a mobile phone ringtone worker to techno producer to chart house crossover supremo has seen him top the charts twice already and set up his own record label, Blase' Boys Club. The number ones in question, 'Need U (100%)' and 'I Got U', have managed to push commercial house and dance music up to the top of the UK charts (and undoubtedly Dumont will achieve the same success in America, when his debut E.P gets a US release). Dumont and vocalists MNEK and A.M.E were even awarded a Grammy nomination for Need U, which saw them come close to winning the accolade of Best Dance Recording last year. It wasn't until July at Hideout festival that I was fortunate enough to see the Duke play, and, as expected, he did not disappoint. Older tracks like 'The Giver' flow well into the more chart friendly productions, seeing revelers on each others shoulders. I've not been able to forget his set since - it was a real stand out of the festival. He's also currently on a live UK tour of the UK, including performances from guest vocalists and DJ's/producers signed to his label such as, Jax Jones and Kiwi. I've already booked my tickets. You should do the same!

Duke Dumont played a show I went to in 2013 and was probably my favorite DJ of the night. There were a couple others, but I'd had a long day of partying and listening to music and he was the one that really stuck with me. I loved how danceable all his tunes were.
Sometimes you get the feeling that a DJ is just playing through a set list they made a long time ago and just going through the motions. When Duke Dumont was playing, it felt like he was reacting to the energy of the crowd and taking us on a dance journey. I guess that sounds kind of crazy but each tune was perfect and flowed right to what I wanted to hear!
There's a pretty good amount of variation in his tunes and the experience is a full one. He samples from all over the place and keeps energy high and is an extremely dynamic DJ. Some DJs have a knack for creating an atmosphere of positive dance and Duke is certainly one of them. If you're into house, dance, or any kind of four on the floor party music and get a chance to check him out, do it! He's something of a legend among my friends who are even more into the scene than I am.

The place was packed! Loved every minute of his set. Wish he would play every weekend. Everyone was partying. Better vibe than the music festival he played a few weeks back. If you have a chance to see him play live, don't miss out!
