"Bonus Room Blitz"[1][2] (known as "BONUS LEVEL" in Japanese soundtracks) is a musical theme composed by David Wise for Donkey Kong Country, where it plays in all bonus rooms. This theme is often paired in later appearances with "Simian Segue" from the same game.
History[edit]
Donkey Kong Country series[edit]
Donkey Kong Country[edit]
Donkey Kong Country marks the first appearance of "Bonus Room Blitz". It is also included in the official albums DK Jamz, Super Donkey Kong Game Music CD Jungle Fantasy, Super Donkey Kong Original Sound Version, and Donkey Kong Country Trilogy.
In the Game Boy Color remake of Donkey Kong Country, the Donkey Kong Land arrangement of "Bonus Room Blitz" plays for the same purpose as in the original game.
In the Game Boy Advance remake of Donkey Kong Country, an arrangement of "Bonus Room Blitz" plays for the same purpose as in the original game.

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble![edit]
In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, an arrangement of "Bonus Room Blitz" arranged by David Wise plays in the game's title screen. It is titled "Dixie Beat" in the Nintendo Music app and the official Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! Original Soundtrack album. This arrangement quotes the opening drum beat of "DK Island Swing" from Donkey Kong Country. It is also included in the official albums Donkey Kong Country Trilogy and Super Donkey Kong 3: Mysterious Kremis Island Original Soundtrack.
"Dixie Beat" does not return in the Game Boy Advance remake of Donkey Kong Country 3, as the theme that plays in that game's title screen is instead an arrangement of "Aquatic Ambiance" from Donkey Kong Country.

The first arrangement is a more faithful to the original theme, while the second arrangement is a more upbeat, tropical arrangement. The latter is titled 「ボーナスステージ2」 (Bōnasu Sutēji 2, "Bonus Stage 2") in the official Donkey Kong Returns Original Sound Track album.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a big band medley arrangement of "Simian Segue" and "Bonus Room Blitz" from Donkey Kong Country can play in any Super Smash Bros.-series and Donkey Kong-series stage. It is titled "The Map Page / Bonus Level" in the game's sound test. This arrangement was also featured in the August 2018 Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct, where it plays during the "Items" section, and Diddy Kong's fighter showcase video. This arrangement was arranged by Hiroshi Yamaguchi, with Naofumi Harada performing on guitar. Yamaguchi chose to arrange these themes not only because of his memories of playing Donkey Kong Country with his sister when he was in junior high school, but also to attempt a new genre of music that he would not normally be able to work on at PlatinumGames.[3]
The medley of the original versions of "Simian Segue" and "Bonus Room Blitz" from Super Smash Bros. Brawl also returns and can play in the same stages. It also plays in DK Island, which is a recreation of Kongo Jungle in the game's Adventure Mode, World of Light.
Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge[edit]
In Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge, the level intro theme, both level themes, the win fanfare, and the lose fanfare in Mine Cart Cove are all arrangements of "Bonus Room Blitz". They were all arranged by James Phillipsen.
