Unable to accept defeat in the American Civil War, O'Meara, a Confederate soldier, decides to start a new life among the Sioux Indians. He survives a ritual trial (called "Run of the Arrow") and is inducted into the tribe. When the Sioux clash with an army unit, O'Meare faces a tough choice: stick to the Native Americans or side with the soldiers?
