Mwah, a lot less enthusiastic than most here.

Visually nice, but no more than that, I didn't find it that impressive. The elaboration of the story is still quite nice, so it didn't get boring in any case, but I didn't find the special therapy that Yuichiro follows until the last few (beautiful) shots either.

Reasonably so, but mainly because the characters could not fascinate me and I did not get the splendor, a somewhat disappointing 3*.

Nice review.

That appears to be the case with most of those early 00 Japanese dramas. That style is a bit out these days, especially the grittier themes and appropriate finish. It is just slightly polished, which is certainly not always better. And so it's nice to put on such an old favorite every now and then.

In any case, Kumakiri is a star in the dark drama niche. Themes that are somewhat taboo, characters who are burdened by problems from the past, and who first have to go through a personal hell to come out a little better on the other side.

Visually very neat, the soundtrack is also quite good, but both are not super striking. Acting is very strong of course, also a film that gets stronger as time goes on. Kumakiri's work is here to stay, but they are just not very popular.

4.0* and a extensive review
