Misbehaviour plot

"Miss World 1970: The launch of a revolution"

The story is set against the background of the Miss World pageant in London in the year 1970. Around the same time, the women's freedom movement sees the contest as disparaging the female sex. The group manages to storm the stage during the live broadcast. As the show nears its end, it becomes clear that not the Swedish darling, but Miss Grenada, the first non-white woman, will be elected Miss World.

This film about the 1970 Miss World pageant puts a lot of emphasis on the protests of militant feminists, while the controversy over the election of the non-white Miss Grenada as Miss World had a much greater impact afterwards.

Nevertheless, an entertaining film with, in my opinion, the actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw as the rightful winner of the contest. I would have voted for her too.

Good film about a number of women who decide to disrupt the Miss World elections in order to draw attention to women's rights. Based on a true and interesting story. The film focuses on multiple characters, so that multiple sides are highlighted. It might have been a bit sharper and less well-behaved, but the film contains some excellent dialogues and the cast does a good job too.

Meh.

There are more interesting stories to be told about the history of emancipation, I think, and as ridiculous as the pageants are, they still go on. So what exactly is the point, you ask. The contrast of man and woman on the one hand, white and black on the other? If that was the intention, it could have been done a little better.

Actually, the only positive point that comes to my mind is the last minute, in which the portraits of the real people are shown after those of the actors. There is just a little something extra that gives you the feeling that the production really paid attention to portraying the characters, because the look and appearance are just right. Too bad the film itself hardly feels that way.
