A good film in which the crew of a German tank is sent on a secret mission. The storyline is somewhat predictable and sometimes a bit long-winded, but this is a good film, not a typical WWII film. The pace is quite slow, the atmosphere is quite atmospheric, and the film is also quite realistic.

I saw this film yesterday on Prime Amazon, with the audio set to English dubbed by default. It's a German film, so the Germans naturally have to speak German. So I converted the audio. The action with the Tiger tank is excellent and really ramps up the tension. In World War II, the Tiger was the best tank, and you could see that in the film. It's a bit long-winded at times, but that didn't bother me. The Eastern Front is well-depicted. The ending was a bit disappointing, which was a shame, but overall, it's a good film.

A great action film from the German perspective. It has some really cool scenes that make it stand out from many similar films, like that building being set on fire with the people inside and that tank submerging. It also seems a bit of a genre mix, as it's not a pure war film—a bit thriller/fantasy/action/war, but I like that.

Quite an okay movie.

The visuals are beautiful, sharp, and rich in contrast—a good choice compared to the often somewhat arty-farty fashion of today, where the technology is deliberately neglected or tampered with. It works perfectly for me; it draws you into the action even more. The story is also kept pleasantly suspenseful, with some hype about the Tiger tank's status right from the start.

It's definitely one of those films you shouldn't overthink too much afterward, because then things start to feel a bit shaky. Comparing it to Heart of Darkness or Apocalypse Now is a stretch—you could apply that comparison to any trip, even when you're going to the supermarket. Still, it stays exciting until the very end, without any letdowns or missteps, which isn't often the case.
