Prevail over land.

About us

Ground combat is defined by unforgiving terrain, harsh conditions, and split-second decisions. At Overland AI, we enhance ground power while protecting lives. Our OverDrive autonomy stack enables ground vehicles to navigate off-road without GPS or direct operator control, while our OverWatch C2 interface provides commanders with precisely coordinated capabilities that are vital for complex missions on the modern battlefield. Overland AI is developing these capabilities and putting them into the hands of tactical operators today. Partnering with the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, SOCOM, DARPA, and DIU, we are delivering advanced solutions that reduce risk and empower soldiers to succeed in contested environments. Join us in shaping the future of ground operations and national security.

Updates

  • Overland AI will be at Tactical Wheeled Vehicles 2026 in Pittsburgh next week. As the threat environment shifts, our formations must continue to evolve how they move and resupply. If you are involved in mobility, sustainment, or acquisition—including Army TIC, USMC PEO Land Systems, and PM FOSOV—come talk to us about turning the ground from an adversary into a tactical advantage.

  • "Good luck surviving those ditches." ULTRA does. And not just the ditches. Loose sandy soil. Rocks of every size. Creosote bushes. The Mojave is challenging in part because there are no discrete obstacles. At every instant ULTRA makes a decision about what must be avoided and what may be endured. These choices have consequences. A small mistake can result in a broken control arm. This is real-time (1×) video of Overland’s ground autonomy in action. True off-road navigation with onboard sensing and compute.

  • We are building something new at Overland AI. Beyond software and hardware—the foundation of our fully integrated vertical offering—we are building a canonical understanding of ground autonomy. What it is, why it is hard, and why it matters. Our Substack is where that thought leadership lives. Essays on the technical challenges of off-road navigation coupled with perspectives on human-machine teaming. Reflections on what it takes to get autonomous systems trusted and fielded with storied units in contested conditions. Whether you are a defense operator, a technologist, a policy expert, or a member of the public paying attention to the evolution of modern warfare, our writing is for you. • The 82nd Airborne trains to deploy anywhere in the world in 18 hours. Overland AI supported 3-82nd during Panther Avalanche, a force-on-force training exercise, and LFX Convoy. Three ULTRAs operated in coordinated maneuver with a five-vehicle convoy through multiple iterations. One ULTRA scouted ahead for route clearance. Another paused mid-route to provide signal retrans. A third ULTRA followed the convoy to pull security. As 3-82nd becomes airborne certified to deploy anywhere in the world within hours of notice, ULTRA is ready to support expeditionary forces in unstructured, contested terrain.

  • Who says robots don't like mud? ULTRA maintains mobility when conditions degrade. The autonomous vehicle contends with mud spattered sensors and moves decisively through muck and mire. The operator creates the mission in OverWatch, our mission planning interface. When the operator presses “go,” ULTRA executes that plan on its own. No teleoperation or remote control. This is real-time (1×) video of Overland’s ground autonomy in action. True off-road navigation with onboard sensing and compute.

  • We are pleased to welcome Mark Dewyea as Head of Legal. He joins us from Shield AI, where he served as chief of staff and in-house counsel at the intersection of autonomy, defense innovation, and operational risk. Mark brings extensive experience across government, military, and defense technology sectors, including service as an active duty judge advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps and as a legal analyst at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. His expertise will further strengthen the Overland AI mission as we redefine ground autonomy for the U.S. and our allies.

  • This hill gives you visibility over the terrain; it also means exposure. So we sent a robot. ULTRA pushes through loose dirt and firebreaks to reach elevated positions, the kind of ground teams would normally have to access on foot or with manned vehicles. When conditions are uncertain, autonomous reconnaissance means you can assess the situation from higher ground without putting people at risk. This is real-time (1×) video of Overland’s ground autonomy in action. True off-road navigation with onboard sensing and compute.

  • There is more. Bloomberg also published a print feature covering our $100M raise and spotlighting Overland's work on breaching operations with the U.S. Army. We have spent the past year working alongside Soldiers and Marines to continually improve our technology to meet their needs and help ensure mission success. The relationships we have built are underpinned by trust and consistency. It is one thing to show up. It is another to keep doing so with a capability that improves with every deployment. As we continue to integrate our autonomous ground vehicles with some of the most storied formations in the Armed Forces, this $100M raise will help us meet growing demand by expanding manufacturing and scaling in lockstep with our customers. Thank you to everyone who has supported Overland AI as we continue to transform land operations through ground autonomy. Read the full article by Jen Judson here: https://lnkd.in/e9YVJzk4

  • Overland AI President and Co-Founder, Stephanie Bonk, joined Bloomberg in the studio yesterday to discuss our $100M raise to scale ground autonomy operations across the U.S. Armed Forces. The raise follows a huge year for Overland. We completed the DARPA RACER program as the sole remaining performer, supported over 20 demonstrations and exercises around the world, and integrated our technology into live field operations. Stephanie sheds light on these recent successes and how this new funding will increase our manufacturing, field support, and forward deployed teams. She also reveals how Overland’s origins in the government’s premier off-road autonomy program, combined with our world-class technical and operational talent (20% PhDs and 20 % veterans), are leveraged to support the most dangerous military and dual-use missions.
