i can't really describe it but some examples include Converge, Every Time I Die, or more modern bands like knocked loose if you want to give any of those a try

Metallic hardcore is literally just metalcore, but these days seems to get applied to bands that have a more oldschool/purist sound. Something rooted more in the hardcore punk side with the metallic influence of thrash/death metal. I guess to separate from the melodic styles of metalcore that are popular these days which lean more into pulling from post-hardcore, djent, alt metal etc.

No, trip hop is more like hip hop with trippy sound effects. Trip hop is like goa trance + hip hop, but much lighter. Downtempo is like techno + jazz. Downtempo has soul, but not always lyrics.
