I liked the show overall, but it falls into that classic British crime drama pattern of giving away the most interesting part way too early. By episode 4, we already know the victim is alive and how she was taken! WHY!? It kind of kills the suspense and takes the edge off the mystery. Just think how much more compelling this series would be with the detectives searching, investigating and the audience unsure if the victim was actually alive.
The acting's solid, though. The lead is a bit intense and not easy to like, but the characters develop in interesting ways. It's still worth watching, just don't expect a big mystery all the way through.

The writing and directing is odd. It appears to be a deliberate attempt to create a world where nothing is normal and no one is normal. What are the odds that everyone is a bit off balance, even the staff? The characters act in ways no one would act in real life. The dialouge is absolutely not believable. To top it off, if you're gonna have a world of odd characters, at least make them interesting. The characters aren't interesting enough to ignore the fantasy island like set up.
So far, I am 2 shows in, and it's been a total waste of time. I will stick with season one. Here's hoping episode 3 improves just a bit. I am not quite sure what people see in this.
One more thing, who goes to Hawaii, or on vacation for that matter, without a camera? Not one in sight.
