At first, I did not like the flashback and flash forward aspect, but it was perfectly an amazingly done in this episode. The best episode of all season the season at first had me very skeptical and upset but now I am like I'm pins and meals to see what happens next And if you watch this episode, you know exactly what you're waiting for at the end. Great job guys.
I'm very happy that This episode was done the way it was done and can't wait till next week.
Now I have an episode with Beth on a porch with the Chief, and neither one of them knows how to make it work? Really? Jon Dutton made it so that it was easy, now, what will we do?
We all know the Native Americans are going to get the ranch. Why have the dog and pony show just to drag this out for five more episodes. They could have wrapped this whole season up in three episodes. Horrible writing.
What is happening with these unexplained flash backs and back to current time? The blend in executing is rather poorly done (albeit better this episode then the complete unexplained randomness from last episode). This is something completely new to the show which is fine but provide the watchers a bit more awareness here.
As far as the storyline, they're really grasping for anything to suck up the hour time frame since Costner left. I'm not sure how much longer I can handle watching Casey and his family remodeling their "modest" house that is enormous and quite nice already.
The storyline on characters finally being on board with Duttons death being a murder is ridiculous. How would a coroner not have discovered these rather obvious marks on his body? And no one has looked into the random prescription of Oxy in his cabinet that no doctor has prescribed him? How is a hit crew this terrible at their job to be this sloppy? I'd be pissed if I paid millions for a hit job that's executed by people with a middle school education on executing.
Just frustrated but understand that shows like this are bound to die a lame death when the major reason it was popular to begin with has left (Costner).

- TriviaFor the international audience, the fourth amendment, as mentioned by Senator Perry, refers to the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution, which is in regards to "Unreasonable Search and Seizure..." , which usually applies to entering a residence without permission unless a court order is provided, but based on the verbiage it could apply to eminent domain issues as well.
- GoofsThere were no guards inside the Governor's residence. There is no state in the entire United States in which a sitting Governor does not have personal security inside their residence along with other staff. The loss of power to the CCTV ( Closed Circuit Television, a video surveillance system that uses cameras to send signals to a limited number of monitors. ) system in a Governor's residence would be augmented by a backup power supply. The assassination plan pursued in this case would have been rendered impossible by those facts.
- Quotes
Kayce Dutton: I have to choose. Choose between my family and the ranch.
Mo Brings Plenty: Don't seem like much of a choice to me.
Kayce Dutton: Me, neither.
[pause]
Kayce Dutton: I don't know what it means. Choose how? Choose when? Choose... what?
Mo Brings Plenty: You're not supposed to know yet. When the time comes, you'll know. And it won't feel like a choice at all. It'll feel like fate. You'll see it and you'll smile 'cause the choice will be so clear.
