-Just to make things official, since the site has been having log in issues for months, and some of the films and shows on my list, that have BEEN on my list for some time, always seem to get erased and I dont find out till months later ( and have to re score them, once again...) I am going to make things, as I said, official.
-Its a new year on this spinning ball of mud , populated by dimwitted ape like beings, and though I an technically one of them, I hardly count myself amongst them.
-YEt sometimes, some of them can make great works. Sometimes.
By tomorrow, I will watch The Great Dictator, starring Charlie Chaplin , for my 4,999th film since I know the speech scene is mesmerizing, encouraging, and famous, since I have seen and liked it before.
And for my big 5,000 ( five thousandth) film milestone, I shall finally watch more than a few minutes of Citizen Kane ( Why though...I know I dont like it, I know I wont like it. Im just one of those rare people that usually know ahead of time about so many things...) *sighs * YEt I shall do it, and come back with a quick quip about the two films. Dusk Shadow, signing off! - DS 1/21/19
-Finally saw all of The Great Dictator, as the 4,999th officially documented film I have seen, it was great. 8.5/10 Was aware of it, especially that speech scene about freedom and equality.
As for Citizen Kane, I still dislike it, but now elevated it fro ma 2 to a 3/10 score just for that old style of filming it has. Still boring, as I knew t'would be, but that was my 5,000 officially listed thing watched. -1/22/2019 DS

  • An Unfunny Look Into the Sad Twisted Life of a Mentally Ill Man

Good on Joaquin Phoenix for sticking with his acting career these last 10 years, even though much of it has been very artsy fartsy and tryhard. But everyone appreciates different types of "art". Sadly, Like the movie where his character fell in love with an ai female "siri" like voice...This BEau Is Afraid flick was not for me.

And quite frankly I cannot see how it would be for ANYONE that wants to actually enjoy a movie viewing experience.

Theres too much to be sad about how bad film and entertainment in general has been getting over the years, but its clear to anyone with common sense that the downward slide over the last 10+, like much of human civilization, is sinking past one low water mark after another.

There was nothing funny baout this film to warrant the "comedy" genre classification, andn ot even anything "dark comedy" either.

The whole movie was just one mentally sick mans fever dream. And despite his supposedly bad upbringing, or whatever the film was trying to use ot justify the main characters unhinged state, it all just overshot its mark.

Give it a miss, you will be better off. 4/10.

  • A good film...that almost seemed a metaphor for how overly complicated modern dating is

    Seriously, its right there...the SUBTEXT!

Yet this movie for all it seemed to be in the beginning, ended up very much a pleasant surprise in the end. Honestly even half way through.

There was action, bit of horror, but one problem with modern cinema, and even lots of anime, is the overuse of too many genre types. This one is labled as "Dark romance, action, horror, romance, sci fi..." and maybe adventure was htrown into the mis, I cannot recall. BUt thats all unnecessary ffs.

ROMANCE? Check. Horror? Also works. Sci fi?...eh...Dealers choice tbh. Now there can be plenty of action is sci fi and horror, so that part is even not needed. BUt if people are sticklers, then have at it. The movie has all that and even a bit of a hint of...Cabin in The Woods vibe to it, ala Sigourney Weaver's character you might say? GO watch it it was a solid 7/10 at best. Maybe IM biased, but the film just worked well enough to warrant that score. A rarity for modern times for sure. BE well ^~^

  • Boned Trauma Balk Gimme my 2 Hours Back

Seriouyl I had been meaning to watch this movie for years, and finally watched it with some family...and it WAS TERRIBLE!

I am surprised Kurt Russell and the dude from the conjuring films was in this, along with Arquette, Sid Haig aka " Captain Spalding", and one or two others I recognized.

This just went on and on needlessly. IT didnt look very good at all, seemed kinda low budget, and was not horror at all. Plus enough with all the westerns about "indians" and this and that...tis been played out for decades and I didnt feel much sympathy for the "cowboy" characters in the movie. Some were terrible people in that film tbh. At least the lighting was natural during outdoor scenes, but the trek through middle earth in the Lord of the Rings was less needlessly time consuming than the travel in Bone Tomahawk. Acting wasnt very good either all around. ANd one cant trust Rotten Tomato scores at all, but I am shocked at how high the score was on IMDB for this flim flop. It was not even B grade, or C grade...it was D. Boned Trauma Balk. I want my 2 hours back T<T.
