Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy in The Gorge (2025)

Review by DuskShadow

The Gorge

7/10

A good film...that almost seemed a metaphor for how overly complicated modern dating is

Seriously, its right there...the SUBTEXT!

Yet this movie for all it seemed to be in the beginning, ended up very much a pleasant surprise in the end. Honestly even half way through.

There was action, bit of horror, but one problem with modern cinema, and even lots of anime, is the overuse of too many genre types. This one is labled as "Dark romance, action, horror, romance, sci fi..." and maybe adventure was htrown into the mis, I cannot recall. BUt thats all unnecessary ffs.

ROMANCE? Check. Horror? Also works. Sci fi?...eh...Dealers choice tbh. Now there can be plenty of action is sci fi and horror, so that part is even not needed. BUt if people are sticklers, then have at it. The movie has all that and even a bit of a hint of...Cabin in The Woods vibe to it, ala Sigourney Weaver's character you might say? GO watch it it was a solid 7/10 at best. Maybe IM biased, but the film just worked well enough to warrant that score. A rarity for modern times for sure. BE well ^~^
