It's disappointing to see how hyped this film is, both among reviewers and here, almost as if it all feels forced and artificial.
While Smile 1 was original and intense from start to finish - an unusually good horror film - Smile 2 is quite dull and boring.
The main character is fine enough, decent acting, but I just don't fully buy into her. The supporting cast is mediocre. Nothing is new or original. Some scenes are well-made, and I understand that the lead actor is something special for many. But for me, as someone neutral, there's nothing particularly special about this at all.
I recommend Smile 1 if you haven't seen it, as Smile 2 feels unnecessary. Sequels are often bad, and unfortunately, this one is no exception.
I'm so bored that I wrote this while watching the movie, just before I start Netflix.

Given that the original might be on the podium of the world's greatest films, this is a rape of a masterpiece - an evil, evil, evil deed that even Satan himself couldn't have done better. Talk about making money at the expense of dragging a great name through the mud.
Even though they've abused the original for decades, this is a masterpiece of incompetence, political correctness, and a lesson in how not to do storyboarding.
Don't people have ChatGPT to help them along the way? Just a better edit of the film could've helped-everything went wrong here.
It doesn't help to bring back old heroes either. Another thing - why include scenes of a beach with sunlight in horror films? Even the original isn't scary when you're watching it at a beach party with cocktails and Jamaican music in the background.

Eyes Wide Shut" is a film I keep coming back to. I felt it was underrated in 1999 and still is today. It might be just as good as anything else Stanley Kubrick ever made. The film is emotionally challenging, with a dark, almost dreamlike atmosphere from start to finish.
Tom Cruise has given two truly outstanding performances-this and "Magnolia." He is completely believable in the role. And this is, without a doubt, Nicole Kidman's best performance. Both of them, together with Kubrick, deliver something far beyond anything else they have done. Yet, I believe the film may have been somewhat held back by the intense media attention surrounding Cruise and Kidman at the time.
Regardless, the way the film explores fear, jealousy, and fantasy is fascinating-especially how men react when they are rejected or emotionally neglected.
