    Nazi Hell...

Granted, with the fact that I hadn't heard about this movie and just taking a glance at the front cover, then I knew that I wasn't going to be in for a massive million dollar Hollywood production.

I managed to endure 35 minutes of this ordeal of a movie. It is low budget in every sense of the words, but they did manage to pull off a good enough production value in the 35 minutes that I watched.

I was ready to turn off the movie when the demons showed up, but decided to stick with it to give it a chance. But it didn't improve much, so I just gave up out of boredom.

The acting in the movie was as to be expected from a movie such as this.

I don't understand why they made the Russians speak English with a stereotypical accent while the Germans spoke proper non-accented English it just made no sense. Actually, I don't enjoy it one bit when they have Germans speak English in a war movie because it takes away so much credibility from the movie.

With only 35 minutes watched of "Reichsführer-SS", I can honestly say that I have no plans to return to finish this movie at any time.

    Himmler in Hell.

Reichsfuhrer-SS Heinrich Himmler (David B. Stewart III) wakes to find himself in Hell, where he is confronted by demon Erebus (John Martineau), who forces him to recount one of his many crimes, where The Führer tested his loyalty by ordering him to kill a young female prisoner (Angelina Leigh) from Dachau concentration camp.

WWII was a dark time for mankind, witnessing the deaths of millions worldwide; still, every cloud has a silver lining, the war resulting in one of exploitation cinema's most dubious pleasures, the Nazisploitation sub-genre, which enjoyed its greatest popularity during the 1970s.

Reichsfuhrer-SS, from writer/director David B. Stewart III, is an attempt at a contemporary Nazisploitation movie, with just a little demonic horror thrown in for good measure. It delivers a smattering of torture, some gratuitous female nudity (Angelina Leigh going full frontal), a spot of gore (arms reduced to bloody stumps, a head bashed in) as well as some surprisingly decent costumery—just where does one go for accurate Nazi regalia? (not that I want any, just to be clear).

Where the film suffers badly, though, is with the pacing (some scenes really drag) and the acting, which sees a few of the performers attempting bad German accents, but the main characters speaking with a strong American twang (who knew Himmler hailed from the States?) which really detracts from the overall effectiveness of the movie.

Overall, Reichsfuhrer-SS is far from essential Nazisploitation, not nearly as mean-spirited or as sleazy as many of its '70s counterparts, but still worth a go for avid fans of the genre who have seen all of the 'classics'.

4.5 out of 10, generously rounded up to 5 just for attempting to revive a much-reviled sub-genre.

What a boring pile of steaming *********************!

Is this a film? Really? I mean it stank and looked like dog droppings and I certainly felt like having stepped into some after watching this...

Labbeled as "Horror, Thriller, War"... weird, I haven't found the tiniest traces of any possibly associated attributes to these genres while watching it.

I didn't care to endure this mess, it was one of the very few films, that deserved to be stopped, before any brain cells could be irrevocable damaged, at least I hope I took action in time. And having a rather high threshold when it comes to plain stupid bad films, I think that has to say something about the non existing quality of this mess.

Theoretically, the story could have had promise, but the script, directing, locations and just everything involved literally screamed: INCOMPETENCE! Other crap I didn't care to entirely watch to the credits seemed like Oscar material compared to this smelly waste of time.

Far worse than I expected and I expected bad.

I'm not sure how hell works but I'd imagine if your evil on the scale of Himmler satan would make you night manager of hell and you'd be some sort of celebrity and revered by others like him. Movie is bad acting is horrible and here's a rule all movies where there are people speaking different languages but you don't want subtitles, everyone speakers in an accent of the country they're character is from or nobody does. Not worth watching.

    Himmler goes to Hell!

Nazisploitation is back with a vengeance!! Director David B. Stewart III and Producer/Cinematographer, John Martineau have crafted an indie gem with Reichsfurer SS that will be a serious treat for fans of old school Nazispioitation. The story is a humanizing character piece that focuses on Heinrich Himmler and his trip into hell. Director David B. Stewart III also portrays Himmler and he brings serious humanity to the character and I definitely enjoyed the moments of black humor that he brought to the character and to the film in general. The film is a beauty to look at as well with fantastic camera-work by John Martineau and production design that goes way beyond what one generally expects from indie cinema. All in all an excellent film that delivers the exploitation, sexploitation, horror and nazisploitation goods as well as having a really fun, and fascinating story. Highly recommended!

    • Trivia
David B. Stewart III's used the same deck of cards from his movies "Friday the 13th Part X: To Hell and Back" (1995) and "Operation: Nazi Zombies" (2003). In "Friday the 13th Part X" it was used by the character Bob (Peter Hock) when he is playing solitaire and in "Operation: Nazi Zombies" it was set out on the old table in the room that the character Lt. Col. Baxter (Sean Hutcheon) flips over. Dave likes to use some of the same props in his movies as "Easter eggs."
    • Goofs
Himmler was 44 years old when he committed suicide. Actor David B. Stewart III, who plays Himmler, looks nowhere close to this age.
